I wonder if that Keys For Classics place (the one where you send specific pictures of your key) can make the wallet size key instead of the regular size. That little key came in handy for me one time.

Isn't the lock Rod that goes up to the lock button right there in the back edge of the door where you could grab it with a slim-Jim? If you don't have one, your local police dept probably does and can come and use it to unlock the door for you. In college I was the go to guy for drunk idiots that locked their keys in their cars - of course I wouldn't open them until the next morning; doing my part for public safety. I probably opened 20 cars in my day with my handy slim-jim and never came across one I couldn't get into.

The most interesting one was my buddy's IROC Z camaro where there was a 90 degree plate just under the window seal making it very difficult if not impossible to even get the slim jim inside the door. Went around to the passenger door and there was about an 1.5" gap in this guarding right at the back of the door, which was the exact width of the slim Jim - doubt that was a coincidence. Its a good thing though as he was the one taking me to the airport for winter break.

These days, carrying a slim-jim in the car is a ticket to a visit with a judge. If you do decide to carry one, conceal it well.

Good tip. It's stored/hidden under the rear seat between the top layer of carpet and the insulation below, so I should be good. I actually haven't had the occasion to use it in probably 10 years, but there it sits in case of emergency.

How can something anyone can buy at a local auto parts house send you to see the judge if its just sitting in your car? I could see if you were walking around in a parking lot after dark peeping in car windows carrying one.

So, remembering I posted this 2 weeks ago (busy work/life) I'm grateful to see so many suggestions!

My in-laws have a "normal" slim jim that I might try. And I've read about people being able to carefully remove the rear glass without breaking.

But! In answer to someone's remark about making sure to have two keys, I do. In fact, both keys were on a chain together (I kept all my project car keys on one chain since until recently this car was in the garage). So, both keys are in the car. However, that means that the spare key is dangling free and I might--might be able to take a picture through the window with my DSLR that is high enough quality to get a key cut from the photo. I will try that before calling Porsche (the ZZZ in the VIN hasn't given me much trouble).

Other than that, I have AAA (because of this car), and I know they will at least attempt to open locks for you. So I have at least a couple options.

Thanks for the replies, all!

Oh, as for the hole in the floor, what do you do to cover it back up?

You've tried opening the hatch like I suggested?

removing the glass is very hard to do without ruining the very expensive rubber seal..
the metal disc that you push up in the floor just goes back down...seal with any caulk you prefer and cover with the floor mat.
