I have been looking for a while now for a set of black sport seats for my 87 in decent shape. I find it interesting that every other Porsche sport seat seems to be relatively easy to find except for the late 928 sport seats. Joe
I wish you luck, they are indeed very difficult to find - particularly ones in good condition. I found mine using Google to search the entire Craigslist domain. Weird thing was, my seller was a Rennlister but for whatever reason he chose to not market them here. Great seller, too, he built custom pallets to screw the bases to, wrapped the seats in several layers of bubble wrap, then lowered a very thick cardboard box over them and put them on a Greyhound bus to my location. The boxes wound up with a few scuffs on them, but nothing penetrated the outer layer and the seats arrived in excellent shape. Scariest part was picking them up at the bus station after dark, lol!
Those are absolutely stunning and are exactly what I am after!! Did you have to redye them or is that how they arrived?
The passenger seat is essentially untouched. The driver's bolster had some wear on the color, but no rips or tears. I stripped that section of bolster and re-dyed it with a kit from Leather Magic. Here are before and after pics:

Those do look really nice. Is it just extra padding that protrudes forward off the rear sear cushion or is there internal structure welded to the rear seat frame to support the side bolsters? Has anyone ever torn into the seats to reupholster them?
Silver79- I bet if you were able to get JWise to make a cardboard template of that bolster shape starting from the stitching below the head rest down to the bottom of the center insert and mail it to you, you could take it to a talented reupholster who could recover the seats and integrate the new shape into the foam beneath the cover. They guy I use is incredibly talented and very reasonable if you want to consider that path since the seats sound like they are hard to procure on the open market. He and I reshaped the foam to give my factory '82 seats a slightly more modern shape and then he completely recovered the seats with leather and vinyl (hides are $225 each so I opted for the seated surfaces only saving probably $500 off the pair). I'm sure he would be up to the task and you are only probably a 3 to 4 hour drive away...

The internal frame structure is different. However, comfort seats can be modified in similar fashion. I know Paul Champagne was offering this option and I bet Rob Budd (Classic 9 Leather Shop) can do it as well. Might be an easier approach as comfort seats are more plentiful - and they were available with 12 way power options.
The back frame structure looks fairly identical except for the extra formed bar stock that protrudes forward. Could be an easy addition to make to the steel base frame.
These are from the 85 seat catalog but I'm assuming the later seats would be structured similarly...
I did check with Rob Budd on the conversion option and he did say that he is able to do it. The current seats in the car are in really nice shape and I just can't quite get past redoing perfectly good seats. I like the looks of the sports seats better and am really curious if anybody has a set that they are willing to part with.

My friend Doug and I have. I did a thread about it some time ago. Do a search.
I did the search and then bumped the thread. What occurs to me is that if you are inclined to reupholster the sport seats, you can do so in the 928 style but starting with Late Sport Seats from any other Porsche.

I bought a set of old 911 sport seats on ebay for $300 and used them to modify the underlying seat frame on my comfort seats, and used the outer foam from the sport seats, and had Paul Champagne do them up with new leather, did the whole interior at the same time.
