Just installed an HD-9 Bendpak ...also changed garage door openers to side mount motors and rails lifted to the top.
Here's a pic before garage motors were moved. I have 10 ft ceilings.

Do you have to use a compressor to get the car down?

I have had a 4-post for years and one thing I did do is bolt it down. My brother brought over lag bolts after viewing my lift move while working with a breaker bar on some part. I never thought about it but at the top rung and using large breaker bars the lift was swaying. I feel a lot safer "just a thought" on safety. I hind site a two post lift would be my choice now due to any suspension work and added access.

Does anyone have the 120V version of the Bendpak lift?

That was actually one of the very reasons I didn't go with the "other" lifts - the Backyard Buddy brand lift, with its "sleeved" design, has a 12" sleeve which rides, enclosed around a 4x4 post at each corner. No possible way for the legs to move, and no need to bolt to the floor.

Ladder design, or the ones with welded tabs, could theoretically "kick" while moving. And I would not have felt secure with a car above or below

This is overkill in design, possibly, with redundant locks at each post.

Of course, here's the other designs:

Here's a "similar design" to the BYB, but without redundant safety locks

Yes, a small air compressor is needed to unlock the manual locks when bringing the lift down.

Also in regards to voltage - you can use either 110v or 220v.

Thanks, do you have the 110V or know anyone that has it?

Oh, sorry. about that. You do know that about 99.99% of these lifts (including Bendpak) are chinese imports, right ? Thought you were looking for 110. T

I don't know what to think anymore, I honestly like the American Custom single post lift but it's over $6k for the M1-4.5 , a grand for shipping and another grand for installation!

I have the Bendpak 4post 9000Lb unit. I like the design. I have not put the 928 on it yet but it works for the Audis. I bought the 220V unit as I was wired for it.

Joining this thread late — but I use floor jack, liftbars and stands for wheels off. Nice benefit of the liftbars is they fit the Cayman too (jack point geometry identical; thanks Porsche engineer). My Cayman has the hardest to clean wheels on the planet (OK — maybe not quite), and so the Cayman is on the liftbars often, as the easiest way to clean the wheels is to just take them off. Right now the 928 is on liftbars, because I'm in the middle of shock and ball joint refresh.

No floor reinforcement, but my garage is actually a hanger (I rent). Doesn't seem to be an issue. It's also a Backyard Buddy.

Don't usually park a car on the lift in the raised position, but when it was at my hanger-mate's house he had a e-type Jag parked on the lift and his 40's Bentley parked under it. In this condition it survived several minor So Cal earthquakes with no ill effects. Of course, in a serious earthquake with a car at raised height I expect the whole thing to collapse. Hopefully I'll have enough time to get out from under it.

I have it plugged into a regular 110V outlet.
However on the side of the motor it says you can hook it up to a 220V as well - I assume it would raise the lift faster?
