Default Porsche Classic auto dim mirror available

Thought I would post this as I just stumbled across it on the Porsche Classic website.
It looks like Porsche is now offering an auto dimming rearview mirror that will fit the 928. The price is very reasonable too. Link: http://www.classicshop.porsche.com/p...373198200.html

Cheers!

Kind of interesting, but the prospect of running/connecting the wires and then dealing with any consequences of that is daunting.

And just in case anyone might've though the parent co was taking care of its orphaned offspring here's an additional bargain:

Cool, but that is a very strange thing for Porsche Classic to offer. And who put together the list of available 928 bits? Fascinating random list of mostly hardware with the wrong head markings and the wrong finish.

My gentec mirror with compass, auto dim and home link was darn near the same price. Looks good in the car and is functional.

Our regular 928 vendors can get those parts for us, perhaps for a little less that Porsche Classic's list price. Guessing that they identified that the 993 mirror uses the same button glued on to the glass as the non-air cooled cars, so added the cross-fit reference to expand their available audience.

Huh. It was an Exclusive option for the 993 from 94-98, option XE3. (Which isn't listed in the '95 Exclusive catalog, for whatever that's worth)

What's really cool about this find is that, according to the description, it is suitable for 928 model years "1984 to 1997". Looks like they've been holding back a couple years of GTSes. Wonder when they'll hit the dealer lots?

Can you give us more details on which mirror you are using? My mirror is loose and I can't seem to tighten anything up.

Sorry I bought it so many years ago the ebay history is gone. Its like this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Gentex-A...hU4ULz&vxp=mtr

Also:

Mounting the mirror requires removing the old mirror button from the windshield, then mounting a different one in its place. I mounted the new button 5 3/8” down from the aluminum windshield trim piece. That’s about ½” lower than the factory button. This places the mirror only slightly closer to the driver than the factory mirror, while still maintaining the same mirror height. You can see in my photo, there is still plenty of space between the new mirror and the sun visors.

See this thread for following it closer:
