Default Temp sender adapter

I am installing a digital temp guage to replace the never working stock unit in my 83S

I would like to put the new gauge sender in the same location on the water bridge as the original. Of course they are two different threads.

The new sender is 1/8 - 27 NPT male and the water bridge is ????? metric

Any help on an adapter for this project would be appreciated. Thanks

There are other sensors on some engines with M14x1.5 threads, some with blind ends. Get one of the cheap or dead, remove the guts, drill and tap 1/8 NPT and you are good. I did this to adapt a 924 sensor (M10x1) into the half hot sensor for Kjet on the heater outlet on the RHS head.

Whats the difference between 1/8 NPT and 1/8 BSP threads? One is 27tpi, one is 28tpi. Nuts.

Note that the wheel nuts/lug nuts are M14x1.5.

Be careful that your adapter doesn't sit the sensor up too high. I had an issue with another car where the adapter raised up the sensor about 1/4" and this was enough to cause an air pocket and give wonky readings.

Why not drill and tap a new hole?

Because the water jacket hole is already larger than the sender unit.
