Does anyone have the name and specs for the connector that attach to the gearbox for filling?
I need to order one, and find it hard to explain to a website![surrender](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/surrender.gif)
Thanks

John,
What exactly does this thing couple to/from? Presumably the filler cap area but having difficulty envisaging what happens.
I have always felt the system needs some kind of system to permit easy pump in of ATF. Historically I get the agents to change the fluid but that may not be practical soon.

There's a tube sticking out of the tranny sump, with a 17mm or 19mm hex head. Removing the tube exposes a quick coupler hydraulic connector, and the coupler is push fit onto that.
I found one by googling the description in the WSM/relevant tech info page, and sourced it from hydraulics firm in Germany.
Sorry can't provide photo - am away from main computer!

I think I understand the connection- it is on the passenger side [LHD] of the transmission where the banjo bolt for the oil cooler fits towards the front of the sump.
I presume when the cover bolt is removed it exposes the quick fit coupling and we need a female quick release couple half to attach to the male fitting. With a hose barb we jury rig something to pump transmission fluid into the assembly.
As you say one of those garden pesticide pumps will probably do the trick quite nicely.

IIRC, There's a ball-check in the end of that style fitting that should be depressed to allow fluid flow. I haven't used that connection (yet...) since I don't have the right female connection (yet...), so no direct experience with the one fitted to the 928. Anyone?

If you have the Tech info CD from Roger then Service info MY86 page 32 gives all the details.
The union is on the RHS of the gearbox (same side at reservoir) - a downward facing tube held with a bolt. Remove bolt and sleeve and the quick fit feeder is revealed.
As Fred says a simple pressure system can fill the box.

Yes I think the filling connector would need to have something internal to lift the ball off its seat.
I have the fitting but haven't used it yet. I does appear to has an indented feature inside to locate and press on the ball.

Ihoe what does your setup look like? In tempted to pick up another Mityvac 7201 and us it to fill up my reservoir when needed. I am considering fabbing some tubing up to the coupling adapter recommended in the shop manual. However, since the coupling is metric, it is only available online I am guessing.

I fab'ed up a trans filler from a 3 gallon pesticide sprayer. I ditched the original pick-up tube for a piece of 1/4" copper pipe as the piece that came with the sprayer had a very small I.D. I bought the metric quick connect but a tight fitting hose that will go on to the quick fill connector is all that's required. Works great and little mess.
