Here is a pic of my NEW transmission from Greg that I installed last year. You can see the reservoir. That rubber hose don't touch. Not for filling. If the cap is on tight, note in the picture there is kind of formed 'nut' on top. If I remember correctly it is a 15 or 17mm 'nut'. Use a closed end wrench or whatever to loosen.

Remember, you have to have the engine running and trans fluid at operating temp to see if you properly filled between the Min and Max markings on the fore face of the reservoir.

Just make sure side with opening on the filter is facing up and the filter inlet is mated to the fluid track in the transmission housing. Also the torque for the filter screws/bolts is very low - 4 Nm - don't overdo.

Here is something that I hope helps.

Note MY86 and later cars have a very convenient quick coupler fill line on the sump, so no need to risk getting dirt into the reservoir removing the cap (though when I last changed tranny oil I removed reservoir to clean it off the car as I was replacing cap gasket anyway).
Photos show the fill port (with cap removed ready to attach coupler), quick coupler attached (with screw on barbed tail to fit hose), fluid being pumped in from pressurised garden sprayer, and pdf of page from the 86 Service Info giving dimensions for coupler (had to get mine from hydraulics firm in Germany as it's continental size) This is easier than rigging a line into top of reservoir and hanging fill funnel in wheel arch, and Porsche provided port for this purpose!
