Default Automatic T-Handle Shifter replacement?

Hi All

I have seen a number of posts on repairing the plastic bottom of these shifters that routinely seem to degrade and break up but I'm not sure I can pull off an acceptable fix.

I want to keep mine stock- or a very stock look, but not wild about shelling out $250 for a new one.

I saw this one at Jager for $59 that looks like it would be perfect EXCEPT that unfortunately (IMHO), it has a chrome button on it- and that looks out of place on an otherwise chromeless cockpit.

Thoughts, or suggested alternatives??

The ad says there is an alternative bottom that is black with a knurled ring. Also, the one shown is "chrome look" which I think means it is polished aluminum. Why not just paint if gloss black to look like the original.?

Yes- I saw that you could opt for the black ring at the bottom which would certainly be the way to go.

Hadn't thought so much about painting over it, but I suppose that might do the trick.

Hi John - I would love to know where you get new ones for $250 as the last few I have sold were $400.

I have a brand new Jager one(928 Transmission Relay Shift System and the GT Style Shifter both available). I bought it and never installed it because I decided to do a 5 speed swap. Let me know if you are interested.

Everyone seems to end up going with the $50 carbon fiber look or wood look alternatives that Mark sells (or used to sell). I think the thing to do would be to wrap one of those in leather.

Thanks Mark

I need black although I guess the leather from the one I have could be transferred.

What about some alternatives you guys might sell new that I could wrap?

Fairly easy to die black
Or maybe you could leather wrap an early handle. They are plentiful and cheap by comparison
