At one point I had 3 928's at the same time, and it took all of them being inop for me to decide things were out of hand

Working at getting back down to 1 928.. almost there.

Sterling...You've helped me realize it is stupid for me to own a 928. I will sell it while all the important stuff, and most of the convenient stuff, is working....and before I want to burn it
No way are you getting out Jon!

Well, some 6 months on I hope Sterling is feeling more balanced about life and the 928. His case is more extreme but I rather suspect his emotions are what we all go through from time to time.

I think of myself as a 928 enthusiast [I have a page on George's website so I must be] but my wife thinks I am obsessed. I reckon that in life you have to have interests that make living worthwhile otherwise what are we doing? In corporate life many who are successful in big companies do so at the expense of their personal [non existent] lives simply because they have no time for anything else, quite often the same for successful entrepreneurs. If and when you stop enjoying your 928 sell it and move on. Been close to that a couple of times but still hanging on in there.

A few years ago I was thinking of doing a big upgrade that would cost upwards of $20k plus a shed load of labour. Another of my cars was croaking. Rationalised that I would be better off buying a Cayenne Turbo S - 3 years later no regrets. 520 bhp punts that big lump down the road very rapidly and it handles like a sports car with luxury accommodations.

The 928 keeps on plodding along, a few things failing now and then and with the help of this list I have been able to deal with most of them myself. As I do not need the car for daily use and I can still enjoy what I do. At the weekends and sometimes during the week I take the 928 for a ride I do not need to make and come back with a smile enjoying as much if not more than the Cayenne even though the 928's straight line performance is somewhat less.

I like to think I have the best of both worlds. Simple fact is that technology has moved on at such a pace then even a good family saloon can give the 928 a hard time to a point- until a fast sweeping bend comes along and then one can enjoy the thing to the full.

If you want to run a 928 and think it is an economical and/or a logical proposition you really need a shrink.

Love may well be all you need but I do not remember John Lennon ever saying it comes cheaply!

Rgds
