There was a nice youtuber (Farghini) filming the LA PCA concours a couple weeks back, and he was kind enough to send the link today. Skip to 4:10 or so, for starters:

Was the exposed rubber of the air filter painted to match the original filters? If so, what paint was used? Sorry if I missed it amongst the pages of info here.

If you want to turn an orange filter to blue, Krylon Gloss True Blue 8820 is a decent match. But Minerva has a NOS PM1674 filter for concours purposes.

Wheel Repair Specialists, found them online and then before I called them (I had a few names to cover) I received a recommendation.

Nice turnaround time, communication (they put up with my OCD), and follow through. Turns out that the machine shop who is doing my '72 Tii motor is close by in addition to a good option for paint. Might be spending more money in Santa Ana, lol!

Do either of you remember which paint color was used on the wheels? Was it Porsche Silbermetalic 936 or something else? If you had to do it all over again, would you still use the same?

The problem is I don't remember the specific color/code they used. Tim at WRS is the expert in Porsche wheel color, I will try to ask him and get back to you...

We did more than a fair amount of research trying to find the correct finish. Between posters from '77/'78 and in period factory pictures from the books and articles we had and, of course, looking at every early 16" phone dial in Mark Anderson's inventory, we felt pretty confident with the end result. WRS (Wheel Repair Specialists) in Santa Ana knew exactly what we were trying to achieve, it came out great, and would do it again without hesitation.

I’d also like to know if you went with a matte finish on Minerva’s wheels or a gloss? I can’t really tell from the pics in this thread, unless I overlooked it. I think I remember @Rob Edwards posting somewhere about early cars having a matte finish on the wheels.
