>How about a blank (no buttons) Central Warning plate? Was there a cover plate?

There are many variations of that panel that were used, the simpliest was one with just the Central Warning Indicator, but no "blank" that I know of.

Most, if not all of the inputs are open, unless activated, and then they are grounded. The idiot lamps need a ground to light. Check the wiring diagram, though!

There are two connectors, but each function jumpers on the same plug.

Seems obvious, but remember the harness and box connectors are mirror images.

i have been staring at the picture here for days. What are you demonstrating on the yellow column?

Cars without air conditioning got some unusual bits. Far as I know only found in very early cars... maybe CS?

No.
Production CS's have AC, with just a smaller compressor.

But some CS prototypes were AC delete, as some others early 928's.
I will post pictures and references when I will have found the information
I'm working on it.

In the meantime, here is a picture from what is certainly the first S4 CS prototype.

You can observe the radio delete (obvious), but the most interesting piece if the plate without the AC, central warning reset and central locking buttons.
I think that this is a lightly modified plate from an early car, (with just the light for the driver seat belt).

You can find these plates with;
- AC, central warning reset, central locking buttons
- AC, central warning reset buttons (used for production 1988 CS)
- Central warning reset button
- Just the light for the driver seat belt.
