Default Price check

I recently got the itch to add a 928 to my "collection". Looking for a complete, running, AC working, no rust, non-project 85-86 928S 5 speed. I'm learning the market for these awesome machines but there is a wide variation in asking prices.

What is a reasonable price to pay for a very low mileage , pristine (< 40,000 mi) versus a low mileage (100,000) example?

I like it. Can you send larger pics so I can get better detail. The thumbnails do not enlarge.

Patience is your friend. Follow this forum and one or two others for the next six months. Make a note of the cars you think you might be interested in, they may still be around at the end of that time. If not, others will appear and you'll have a better feel for cars and sellers both. That said:

"Well maintained" covers a lot of ground. If, to you, it means perfect or near-perfect cosmetic condition and you're the kind of guy who'd be be upset by stone chips earned between NYC and, say, Dallas, the price just went way up and the pool of suitable cars, already small, got much smaller.

OTOH, if what you want is a great GT that will satisfy you on the trip to Duane Reed or Darien or Denver, you have a larger and more reasonably priced universe to explore. (Though, for the first trip in particular, you might ask yourself the question Roger of 928srus does in his sig - "Does it have the 'Do It Yourself' manual transmission, or the superior 'Fully Equipped by Porsche' Automatic Transmission?")

May you enjoy the quest ere you enjoy the ride.

Appreciate the input. But my usual "itch to purchase" time has usually been less than 6 weeks. Impulsive, maybe.... but I have yet to regret any of my purchases

Think you nailed it Harvey ... $29K for that beautiful '87 or $10K for a plain S4 ... or, check out all the GTSs in the market right now, priced from $60K to $125K
