Default Oil Pan Gasket

I've pulled my oil pan and I have a new cork gasket. Any thoughts on whether to use a gasket sealant during reassembly? Also the rubber boot on the sensor on the front of the pan was hard as a rock and cracked during disassembly. Does anyone sell a replacement or could I use shrink tubing?

Put the gasket on dry. Torque it to 40 inch lbs., starting from the center and doing an "X" pattern. Finish with 60 inch lbs. in the same "X" pattern. You will have to do this several times to get the same amount of torque on all the hardware, since the inner bolts gets loose, as you work your way out.

Throw the boot away....the boot traps moisture.

Greg? No Yamabond? I thought that was 'the ticket' to keep the cork gasket dry forever?
