Let me start by saying that I love the 928, all 928's. I have bought at least two that were in worse shape than this one. Most of the pictures are self explanatory.

The entire interior of this car was sad and neglected.

Very cool color, even thought it had a terrible respray.

The dash had several deep cracks.

The respray was so bad the door rubber was half green and half black.

I started to make an offer on the screwdriver, lol.

Missing spare and MFB spare cover.

Rust bubbling on both sides.

If you look closely you can see that the rear bumper cover is warped and torn in two places near top above the reverse lights.

The one thing that prevents this from being a $500 parts car is the fact that it starts up, and according to the seller, drives. I was not able to verify the engine code. I believe this to be a legit Euro 78. It was federalized in the same manner as one that I parted years ago. If you like interior work then this car would be a fun project. If you are a talented painter, then this car could be a fun project. If it would have been in better shape I would have asked for a test drive. After the video was shot we just buttoned everything up and talked money.

The seller is a solid guy and is trying to do the best he can for the widow owner. He said that he/they would sell it to the first person that wanted to keep it and fix it.

Lots of us would have a field day with some of the bits and pcs if the price were right, but it would be a long term resto project.

Send me a pm (or better yet call me if you know me) if you would like to buy this car. I will gladly provide the name and phone number for the seller.

Has some early features which I wouldn't expect on late '78 MY car. In any case it's ROW.

So far as service goes, lower ball joints and fuel line were original. Timing belt service done in the last five years.

Could you elaborate on this? Are you talking about the vents in the door and dash?

I hope someone has the time, energy and monies to help this car get back to where it belongs. Truth be told...in my opinion...it's about one fail to start away from a parts car. To many pieces missing or ruined.

Thanks, Brian...for taking the time to document this car.

Brian.

Smile This car still available at reduced pricing

Hi folks.
It's interesting, and honestly a bit disconcerting, to happen on one of these forums and see yourself (and a car you represent) being talked about. I have been out of the euro enthusiast world for a few decades, so I didn't even think to come post the car here originally.
Most of what was said is well taken; however, I feel like the car has been slighted with certain statements. I would consider the opinion of someone that has known the car for 25 plus years and is only a person assisting a widow dispose of an unneeded vehicle over that if someone who spent less than 30 mins with the car, and did not drive it. It was pouring rain that day. I do appreciate that the time and effort was taken to better document the car and that 928s still have such zealous advocates. I have owned this car and an 88 S4. I loved the driving qualities of both cars. Thanks for the initial knod to my craigslist write up.

I had a buyer that had commited to buy the car and I answered every question and accomodated every request. I held the car for him for 2 weeks and took it off the market. Ironically just today he happened upon this thread and it gave him cold feet. It was offered to him at an extremely fair price for the condition of the car (very solid body and mechaincals, trim and paint needing attention). I willfor anyone who would like a nice car to play with we will open it up to anyone else who will offer what Zak did before his last minute cold feet. The gentleman enthusiast who drove from Atl to look at the car agreed that $3500 was a fair estate liquidation price. So. Any legit players can contact me @ retrevni@gmail.com and make arrangement to come take Kermit home.

This looks like it could be a fun project car for someone willing to put a lot of money in to it. Hope it finds a good home.

I hope one of the Jedi Masters here will buy this car,

if only to keep the poor thing from bouncing from sale to sale to sale to sale....

If I were flush, I'd buy it, put it on a trailer, and ship it out to visit Stan or Greg over the winter.

Sheesh. A guy can dream, can't he ??

I love Oak Green, but any value it had as an Oak Green car is gone thanks to the terrible respray and the condition of the interior. It's just an early Euro 928 which needs a ton of work at this point.

It's at $1,200 as I post this. I'll be stunned if it reaches $3k.

Could be a great deal for someone that is handy. Good to see a Porsche avoid the scrap heap or become a parts car!
