Hello

Today my battery died ( 6 years), jumped and it fired up, checked voltage and its under 12v so bought a new one.

After installed, went drove for about 40 km, then rev the engine at idle and the light comes on and then off when rpm goes back to idle.

Checked the battery voltage....13.9 at idle and 13.1 at rest soooo....
is it the alternator starting to go?

Prior to the dead battery that light never come on when reving the engine.

The light under the 10 ( alternator warning light?) comes on when reving the engine.....but doesn't stay on, it goes off when its back to idle

 

Sounds like the alternator might be on the way. I would check it before driving too far.

 

Now when the ignition switch to on....the oil warning light and the ! light flashes??
Thoughts?

 

Go back to what was last done, battery replacement. Check ground strap and any red wires off the positive terminal. Possible one of the aux red wires is loose or the connector corroded, etc. Usually not a coincidence when something goes wrong just after a fix.

What's strange now is the alternator warning light gets brighter as it revs up, light stays on after shut off and key removed??
With the ignition to on all the bulb test lights used to be on until starts but now it comes on for like "one" seconds and they all go out and then my oil light and " ! " flashes???
Car starts fine.....voltage measured at 13.70 idling and 12.6 at rest.
Did some search......the blue exciter wire?

 

Loose belt or brushes in the alternator so worn, they loose contact with the armature at higher rpms.

 

It was the alternator, replaced and back to normal.
