You try Mark Anderson?

Most people that have a good one are hanging onto it since they've gotten rather expensive.

You just want a spare or did yours fail?

Thanks for looking Mark, I took it to a machine shop that has experience with these plates and he said they can only remove about 5 thou of materiel...it was going to take a lot more that that to resurface mine.

I don't have a pic...but ill take one and post.

Seriously...

928 International doesn't have one....or are you looking for one that is cheaper than what they want for one?

Because I can certainly go into my upstairs parts and pull you out a really nice one....but it isn't going to be cheaper than their price.

Yes, I called them and they don't have any..." they would have to get one out of Germany" was the quote. I think the price was 1300 USD++

I found a supplier that sells them for 850 new...but add the 25% premium in currency exchange, shipping, etc...you do the math. Call me cheap but i'm not paying that . I suspect I can't afford to play in your sand box either .

That said, if I can locate a good used one, i'd have the surface machined, like new.

Wow.

New intermediate plates have been very expensive for years. The fact that 928 Intl. doesn't have any used ones isn't good news.

Funny thing about my "sandbox". There's this perception about my sand being part gold flakes.....which I think is really funny!

Actually, I get to touch and see many invoices from many different places and most times am shocked at what others charge....way more than I do....completely ignoring the fact that I'm actually fixing the problem that they could not.

Being über familiar with these cars does several things.

Rarely are there huge diagnostic fees....because I generally know what the problem is, just by listening to the description of what is happening. Secondly, knowing exactly how to fix that problem makes the job much quicker.

I frequently see invoices for thousands of dollars to "fix" a problem, which never got "fixed". Sometimes these problems are so simple, they get fixed with just a simple piece or adjustment.

I call what I do an incredible value....

As far as parts are concerned....I don't make the cars, nor the prices for the parts.....Porsche is responsible for that.

Try to remember that the 928 model was the most expensive car Porsche offered, at the time....and was more expensive than virtually any other vehicle made, at the time.

And this wasn't because they inflated the tires with really rare and expensive air....

One of my favorite things to pass on to people when they are considering buying a "cheap" 928...."What part do you think is going to be cheap....the Porsche or the 928?"

I've sold good used intermediate plates for years in the $400-$500 price range. I do not have any $200 intermediate plates...that's what you have and I threw them away. I don't see any reason to lower that price, now that they are getting difficult to find.....

If you want me to stop what I'm doing and go look for a good used one, in that price range, I'd be happy to do that!

Currently there are 8 left at Porsche - all in Germany and circa $1200.
