928 Performance evaluation on unlimited speed road?

It's 36 km's (22 miles) to exit 114 Blankenheim where motorway temporarily ends. Almost entire section is constant uphill but also so straight that I have done it practically flat out at 150+ mph for 20 miles in BMW E36 coupe. Never have had empty space all the way with 928 but have seen 170 mph for short while in automatic GTS to other direction towards Cologne.
In right circumstances with SC'd ROW S4 or stroker GTS it would be rev limited at 5th for 20 miles to both directions on ROW 5sp gearing. Depending on where limiter is set it would be 185+ mpg. Put limiter to GT's 6800 rpm and you break 200 mph. If yours has '87-88 US 2.20:1 diff then you would possibly be air resistance limited at 220+ mph. That is some five or six minutes constant flat out fully legally.
On cars like tuned 993 Turbo such speeds have found out completely new problems. For example according to one owner its interesting sound when plastic starts to wear against tire when air pressure pushes it to rubber during such trial. Stock factory inner fender mountings were not enough to keep it from deforming and rubbing. When speeds get to 30-40 mph above what stock model has ever seen you tend to find out whole another set of problems.
Though might take several nights to have right weather and traffic. Passing camper van which is doing 50 mph at 120+ mph speed difference is certainly interesting experience one does not want to repeat many times during one night.

I guess I'll add a little info to this discussion. Based on my last ORR event, I averaged 175 mph for 90 miles and used 13.3 gallons of gas (50% pump/50% race). So about 6.8 mpg. I don't make as much rwhp at ptuomov, but I am running 15 psi boost (at sea level). I did some analysis on the GPS log from the event and I ran over an 191 mph average for 44.3 miles with a top speed of 208 mph. This is on a closed 2 lane US highway, 4,100-5,800 feet elevation, with 36 turns (from 100-180 mph corner speeds).
From the discussion so far, it seems this might be a longer stretch of "unlimited" highway then usually available over there. But then again, it's not free to all.

Might be.... minor details such as a full cage, fuel cell and other requirements to run in the unlimited class.
Here all we do is get in sit down and turn the key 🔑 in a fully registered everyday street legal car.
Nothing else required

Some new dirty fuel to old thread. Bumped into this:
Damn thing is doing 250kph and only revving 3K. 928 would struggle to keep up and drain almost entire tank while diesel has more than half a tank left.

Just as I showed the four tailpipes to a wannabe Vin Diezel in his Golf GTI I got pulled over by a friendly officer, who I guess wanted to compliment me on my driving skills and ludicrous Hertz Yellow paint job.
Not!
My feeble attempts to explain that I have been a fan of the Lakers ever since I saw Magic Johnson on TV fell on deaf ears. He pointed out that doing 105 in 65 wouldn't be excusable even if I was Magic Johnson himself. Cop was a Lakers fan, by the way.
I got the fine in the post when I got back to the UK a week later - $490 and I paid it straight away.

Anyone planning on driving 928 at autobahn at speed should be interested. Been there and done that. Just warning people they better be prepared if they plan to do it.
For example used but still working 2004-> 535d is less than cheapest fully operational 928 for sale in Europe. 928 is no longer performance bargain it once was. With simple chip tuning many 3L turbo diesels from last decade are equally fast as any near stock 928. Some lucky people drive to work with them daily at speeds 928 has hard time keeping up. Technology has long since moved on.
