928 Spyder Maiden Voyage this week !
Essentially finished up my 928 Spyder project this evening and am heading for Chicago and onto WI over the next few days. I took a few shots in the garage after buttoning things up tonight. A few attached here - more on this Shutterfly Share Site.

I'll do a proper outside photo session with a better camera when I retun, and by then it will have a slick shifting Z06 6-speed in it. At some point I'm going to put together a thread of the build progress with a lot more detail on what I did, but for now you can skip to the end
Last piece will be a set of different wheels once I've burned up the rubber on these. I've gone with a wheel I've never seen on another 928 and is currently not even disctribured over here, but I'll save that surprise for later.
Special thanks to:
Wish me luck !

Special thanks to:
- Doug M for parting with his project car which had already been painted and had the updated bumpers & Lights
- Carl Fausett for the supercharger and mechanical refresh including a number of updates and custom pieces to get me what I wanted
- Kevin in Atlanta (928parts@mindspring.com) for the superb condition interior pieces and quick delivery on some last minute parts.
- Jim Doer for quite a bit of advice on this OB car, the cool smoked side markers and clear front lights.
- Mark Anderson for always having what I needed, responding super-quick to emails and for expediting a few last minute things.
- Rob Budd for the exceptional leather work (dash, pod, glovebox, sun visors, & a-pillars
- and to the rest of you for knowing way more about these cars than I ever will and your willingness to share that knowledge with us newbies.
Wish me luck !

Planning on SITM next year. Was hoping to make it this year, but missed it by a few weeks.

I must admit that im not a huge fan of carbon fiber look, but your implementation of the material is spot on!
Great project and car.
question: lower door speaker and speaker pods. Any information on the build of those? Are those speakers focal 3 way components?

Thats a great looking car your attention to detail is excellent!
All the mods you have made are very tastefully done.
Cant wait to see your new wheel choice,
whats happening with the old wheels?
Looking forward to the in depth road test report
Keep em flying!

Thanks guys. Yes, Focal 3-way components in the door and 2-ways in the rear panels. I took Harley motorcycle fairing speaker mounts (because I liked how the shape would work with the corner of the door panels) then customized them to fit the shape of the door panel. Those just fit in there clearing both the light from the newer door panels I used at the top and the door sill at the bottom.

That there, is a shyte-ton of body work.
Not easy, not cheap. Looks well done from most angles. The turn up at the rear of the door/window channel is a tough one to resolve. Looks as good as can be given the original shape.
Since these are 'unibody' cars, I'll be interested in the body shimmy during spirited driving. The roof/B pillar section on the 928 was very much structural.

I've had it up to 100 or so, but it's more a cruiser than a cornering monster. I have a supercharged 997 with full RSS and Bilstein suspension and the TPC DSC for that.
The Spyder has been reinforced down the sides and across the rear seat beam, but it still has flex - like having a secondary suspension

'Secondary suspension'. I like that.
Good to see some steel added in there. Corner cross torsion is very hard to resolve, and would require a bunch of X bracing, weight and still might be iffy.
Lucky on the 928 most of the mass is over the wheels(engine, rear trans, gas tank, batt, etc) and uses a torque tube for rigidity so I think you can get away with less reinforcing.
