Lightbulb Carmel Concours on the Avenue - Help fund the participants

]Hi all,

As you may know Adam Birnbaum was contacted to get a list of 928's for the Concours on the Avenue in Carmel CA (Aug 11) during the infamous Pebble Beach car week.

If you check out this thread (https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...mpetitors.html ) you can find the details on the event and potential participants. This event is world class and will provide the 928 with some serious exposure. Anything we can do to make this a success will reflect well on the 928 community.

Others in that thread have brought up the idea that we (fellow 928 owners) could assist with donations to help defer the costs of getting the 928s (and their owners) to the event.

I've sent a note to the powers that be for approval of this thread (still pending but given the go ahead to post by our moderator (Hacker)) so here it is..

Plans are for funds to go into my paypal account (as a gift) and I'll keep a list of donors/funds received that will be available for all who want (unless a donor wishes to remain anonymous). My paypal account is :
midlman@gmx.net

The hope is to run this until about the 3rd week of July (or so) and then disburse the funds to the participants. I envision the funds being equally split amongst all participants (I believe there are 10 in the mix). I will contact all the participants and figure out how to spread the money.

For now I'm just using paypal since they only charge their basic fee. If there are enough folks who don't have paypal that want to donate I can quickly set up a go fund me page. They also charge a payment fee as well as 5% off the top.

When donating, please put a note saying it's for the concours event so I can keep them all together.

Any questions?...let me know...either pm or email works.

And..to start it off... I'll contribute $100.

thanks in advance folks!!!!!

Default Carmel Concours on the Avenue - Help fund the participants

As a Monterey/ Carmel local and long time Monterey car week attendee, it will be great to see 928's on ocean avenue this year. I will be sure to stop by and say hello to the 928ers in the event.

Donation sent via PayPal.

Thanks guys...

Once I get the list from Adam, I'll post up a list of the participants and their cars.

From what I have heard, we are going to see some stellar 928's at the show....

Well, I'll still offer up the first round when we are there.

Great idea- thank you! I'm part of Team Tyson from Texas. I hope to get Roger's Club Sport SE in my garage this weekend.

New Griot's Garage Goodies are on the way!

Awesome Andy!!

You bring up a good point. Assistance doesn't have to be monetary. If you know one of the participants, anything you can offer (in Andy's case....extreme detailing) to help them prep their car for the show would obviously be welcome...

Im still offering crash space for participants, crew, or tag-along roadies just north of Santa Cruz.

Thanks Tom - it might be 95 outside but my garage is a comfortable 73 degrees! I love the climate controlled system. I'll have the house pretty much to myself for the next week so I can pace myself. I've been waiting for an opportunity like this!

Sounds like an olympic event.

How about live streaming, or at least, before/after/progress photos?

928 Owners Club board has voted to support this event - at a level similar to a regional meet. That should help attendees as well!

I've told the new owner of TONKA that I'll personally provide him a stipend if TONKA (without the name on the reflector plate) is in attendance!

Thanks for the note Gary... and thanks to all the OC members for the support....

Yet another reason to join the 928OC if you haven't already.

Hi Tom,
I need to pull my name from being involved with this fundraiser. Because I'm a judge at the event, and the 928 isn't going to have its own class, I can't do anything that favors one set of cars over the others in the same class.

I've edited the first post...

Once I get a list of the 928 participants I will talk with them and figure out how best to disburse the funds..

Cool... a judge at a high end concours event.... add that to the resume
