Correct, a twin-turbo with big red Cayenne brakes.

My detailer just left and Greg took care of the last mechanical issues so I am ready. Its been a very long time since I've been in a 928 that has EVERYTHING working.
A very big thanks to Rob Edwards who has done so much with this car and to Greg who did his magic. Working side by side with Greg for half a day reminded me how much he knows about 928's and how methodical he is about repair.
A wise man knows his limitations which is why Greg fixes my cars when its above my junk man part trade out abilities.

Thanks for all the support everyone! I fly in Sunday night and the GTS will arrive sometime Monday.

I will do my best to post pics whenever I can. I've never been to the Monterey car week or even CA. Should be fun.

We'll be in Carmel on Sunday afternoon. We had to make a small detour to Anaheim, in the process of doing a small paint repair the idiot owner cracked the windshield removing the top windshield trim.

First leg, getting to the mainland, Washington State Ferries' newest boat:

Overnight somewhere in Oregon. And a huge THANK YOU to Thomas "Supercedar" for hooking us up with a great trailer. It tows just fine.

Lots of smoke from the wildfires, starting in mid-Oregon. This is departing the rest stop at Weed, in northern Calif-- Sue in the GTS leaving her transporter in the dust. Weed to Redding, through the Siskiyou mountains, is some of the nicest interstate driving anywhere. So Sue unloaded Valentine and took off to stretch her legs.
(The problem is that portion of I-5 is generally well-engineered, which means it only really gets interesting in a 928 well north of whatever that silly posted number is. But that's a story for another day).

So here's the deal on windshields: Most of the glass these days is coming from China. Some is good, some not so good, but for this car we wanted the real deal-- preferably with the Porsche logo. No such thing at any price, it turns out, for the 89+ no-antenna glass. The second choice was Sigla-branded (same as original, except for the Porsche logo), which is distributed by Pilkington but unavailable everywhere we looked-- except with Garbriel (Windshield Expo) in Anaheim. Which is why we are in Anaheim.

So my advice for anyone on the west coast contemplating windshield replacement, get an order in with Gabriel and plan to meet him at Sharktoberfest. 714-535-5658 ...

Glad you made it down there safe and sound....

Back a number of years ago, I had Gabriel drop ship a windshield up to a warehouse in Kent...so I had a spare just in case I needed it... so if you can't get down to Anaheim, check with him to see if he still ships them.

Came in a nice large well packed box and in perfect shape...and price wasn't much more than having it done down there.

We are flying out tomorrow am early and will be in Carmel around noonish...

Really looking forward to seeing the 928's outshine their competition.

I'll be passing near you guys tomorrow but seriously schedule-pinched so no visitation time a least going south. Looks like I'll be coming back north on Wednesday or Thursday, and --might-- be able to visit if the stars align. I think the term is "harmonica virgins".

Jim/Sue -- That smoke in Weed, you didn't inhale did you? Wonder how the place ended up with such a funny name... I'll be passing through there early tomorrow. Radar detector set on 'stun'...

Keep in mind that we now live in central Oregon, if you need a place to stop for the night on the way back. Just turn right off of 5 at Weed, north on 97 until you get here. Let me know. I shold be back NLT late Thursday.
