Tail Lamp Issue

Hi all,
I just bought my first 928. And I am having an issue with the driver's side tail lamp. The tail lamp warning light came on, and I figured it was a bulb. I tried replacing it, but that didn't work.
Unfortunately, that exhausts my mechanical know-how. I have searched google, but not found anything related. Any help is appreciated.
Also, if anyone can recommend a good mechanic in Oregon that would be awesome.
It is an 83'.

Several threads exist about this issue, but I will add my .928.
#1, all the bulbs need to be matched, nickel based bulbs. The copper based bulbs draw too many amps or something.
#2, the sockets need to be corrosion free.
#3, the side marker and license plate bulbs could also cause a fault.

Change the bulbs with exact matching bulbs (L<->R) of the right wattage in both rear tail lamps and the rear/side markers. Check to see they all look the same relative brightness. If one is dim clean the socket well.

also, along the floor of the hatch are 2 white 2 post connectors,
these are the wires for the side markers,
take each one apart and clean ,and put deoxit on them

Thanks for all the replies.
The side marker is also out, and the connector on the driver side doesn't seem secure. The wires turn almost freely inside the white plastic shell. I was unable to wrench it apart for fear of breaking it.
I will have to work on it when I get home this afternoon.

The rear marker and side/rear marker are combined (parallel) per-side for the monitoring so that is for sure the problem - try just replacing both rear/side marker bulbs to begin with.

The problem with the side marker is that there is a splash guard in the way. I can't get to it easily, and with my extremely lites experience I'm not sure I can get to it at all.

if the lamps are hard to reach,
then work the connectors.
\ Water gets into the connectors and corrodes them,
they are in the corners of the hatch

So the fuse was missing. I replaced it and it instantly blew. I pulled the side marker out, and the bulb is dead.
I'm heading to Napa for a new bulb and new fuses.
My friend is helping me, and telling me the 15 amp fuses I have are wrong, and thT I need 5 amp. Anyone know if that's righ?

Whatever you do leave the fuses per factory spec (with fuses bigger is NEVER better).
Check the bulb holders - take out all the bulbs, visually inspect and see if the fuse still blows...

So it blows the fuse without bulbs in it. I put a bigger fuse for testing, and it works. The wRning light comes on, but the bulbs stay lit. I am not going to leave the bigger fuse. I was just testing.
