My LT1 powered 80 928 3 speed Automatic, 0-60 MPH in 4.8, according the the onboard GM ECM and Datamaster software with the correct tire size and gear ratios.
I enjoy the reaction of passengers and its a good converstion stopper.

Just got my 1st gen. GTech-Pro.
Seems the 1st gen. unit uses a single axis accelerometer.
That means the GTech has to point straight forward and
be installed level. (Instructions say to stand in front of car
and make sure the unit points straight forward).
Any deviation in mounting the unit will introduce measurement errors.

Don't know if acceleration squat skews the reading any.

Ernest(NYC)
Can't beat the $35 price for casual measurment.
It's darn sure more accurate than the Butt-O-Meter.

Ernest, upgrade to the ss or the rr they self level before every run ensuring accuracy.

Agree with you KM.
Waiting for spring to arrive before there's going to be any real testing.
1-3" snow predicted for tomorrow in NY/NJ area.

Tempted to get one of those old audio turntable bubble level to "aid" the GTech.
Fun watching the real-time G-Forces. Didn't think backing off on throttle would generate that much deceleration.

Sax
Gtechs work pretty well, for the price they are excellent! I have used it quite a bit, getting around 5.9's in my 88 automatic S4 (RMB & K&N) so a 5.6 is a very good time. Might get a little better with a better launch (less burnout)

On a different car the other day the Gtech returned 4 runs withing 4 hundredths of a second...not bad.

updated 0-60 time of 5.7 seconds and 1/4 mile of 14.1 at 101 mph. times were measured using the 1st gen G-tech pro. this is for my 86 S2 auto, factory spec is 6.7 0-60 so ive gained a whole second! and thats just through weight loss and exhaust mods (plus 315 section rubber at the rear).

the auto takes the hard work out of getting good times. the 88 SE feels seriously quicker in each gear but my shifting sucks, im not even going to measure times in that at the mo! im definitely looking forward to upgrading the 86 with the GTS engine and 5spd, should be good for less than 5 seconds 0-60.

Nick,

If you kept the auto box, and used a high stall converter, you could possibly get down less... But, is that the reason you're building this? 0-60?

I will be sad to know that the M1 or M25 are such that you have to resort to this.. I say if you get up enough, the Gatso's won't be able to "see" you...! If you stop at 60, they surely will...!!

Only way to measure properly is a g-tech or its equivalent from Escort which I used in my 5spd S4 last year, which puts 299 to the rear wheels. I ran two runs, best was 5.8sec. So, if you can beat that --- you are a winner. Look at the supercharged cars' times ..... I'm not sure a stopwatch is a great way. Either way, yep these cars haul a$$

richard, fortunately there are not yet any fixed cameras on the M1 and within reason you can usualy truck along at around the ton without too much worry. 0-60 isnt the reason im transplanting engine and box, its more the low down tourque for grunting around town and undeniable top end for easily overtaking at higher speeds. converting to manual is just for the effect, blipping the throttle and listening to the V8!

The day I bought mine last summer, my 0-60 time was about 45 seconds. Of course, it was on a trailer behind my truck.

This spring though, we'll see.
