Default 17 inch turbo twist alloys cup 3

hi ppl need some help please

I have a thread I started on Pelican which I need some help on.:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...ys-my-car.html

The great members have convinced me to stick with 17" over changing to 18" so I'm looking at buying some to replace my buckled front alloys. whilst looking I found these for sale on ebay and for the price I have to have them.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261904473567?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
My rears are simply showing signs of aging they run 97% straight and will need a refurb at some point. So the cost of buying new compared to refurb cost these seem an ideal investment...if they will fit. I understand most things but this offset etc seems to go over my head a bit

The question I have is could anyone advise if these are a direct fit for my rears. would prefer no moding or change of tyres etc. will I need spacers?? or nut changing

The pictures on ebay show the Et no etc.

any help please thanks

They show ET 15. You need 47 - 53 ET.
So these won't fit.

Go with an 18" wheel. Better handling and much wider selection of available tires in that size.

I'd recommend sticking with 17" wheels, as the lower-profile tyres on 18" wheels will detract from your ride quality, unless you only drive on very smooth roads.

Depends on your definition of 'ride quality'. For you it seems to be the feeling of riding in a barcalounger.

For me it's the feeling of responsive handling when I turn the steering wheel.

hi
in London the roads are crap and the speak bumps are awful.

I prefer better handling and comfort over the looks. hence I'm sticking to 17 inch.

18 inch would be to much harder on the steering and the ride quality with all the bumps would make me scream.

can't find the right turbo twist alloys

Yes. Those wheels in that eBay auction will fit on your car, and they will look okay.
But the ET50 (50mm) front offset will NOT be ideal for handling.

I ran a set of ET50 front wheels on my 87, and I would definitely not do it again.
They were twitchy, and bump steered, and tended to track imperfections in the road.

Your existing original front wheels have an ET65 offset, which gives a negative scrub radius.
The negative scrub radius built into the steering geometry gives the car handling stability.
As you decrease the offset, you reduce the NSR (an ET55 wheel gives a neutral scrub radius).
So anything less than ET55 gives a positive scrub radius, which leads to tram-lining.
I had my ET50’s on for a few years, including a couple different sets/brands of tires.
Eventually I switched to ET60 fronts and the difference was immediately apparent.
Just my personal experience, but I would not use anything less than ET55 on my fronts.

If you are specifically looking for Turbo Twists, I am pretty certain the OEM turbo twists were never offered in 17 inch. Only 18 inch. See this page for a reference on all the OEM Porsche wheels and offsets. http://www.944racing.de/felgengewichte.php
All of the 17 inch twists I've seen have been aftermarket, made by either Mille Miglia or more recently by Cup Edition, sold through Tire Rack. I have a set of used 17-inch Mille Miglias I picked up from a 993 guy.
