1980, California car, few options. (249, 261, 401, and appropriately enough, 650...) Paint doesn't look half bad from here.
I think it's Anderson's next project car.

928 convertibles tend to be a rough crowd, and this one is very nice on that scale. Price seems quite reasonable. Many don't care for the looks, but I can tell you a 928 convertible is a joy to own and drive.

I wonder if it was done by Gene Winfield, now of Mojave, CA. I stopped by his place a couple of years ago with a 928 hatch he needed for one of his projects, and he told me that he did 6 of these conversions back in the 80s. If he did this one I would sure be interested in it, just for the historical value, to me anyway.

That one looks like it was converted by the same shop that did mine based on the way the roof is done and the rear fender/trunk setup - so maybe I have one of the 6. One nice thing about this particular conversion is that the top folds behind the rear seat, keepign them usable for the kids, instead of into the rear seat like the Carelli conversions do. Mine came out of CA as well. the interior tub is reinforced with welded-in steel along the inner door sills and up through the curved inner quarter panels. Original turnk hinges were welded together steel and the only thing that keeps it up is that they would allow the trunk to go completely vertical - I've since changed mine by fabricating my own hinges, a firewall they pass through when closing, and the trunk is now supported by gas struts. Mine has Jacquemond front and rear bumpers that were added by the PO whom I bought it from, so the updated front bumper and taillights. Since I've completely torn apart the inside of the car for chassis sealing, updated electrical wiring, sterro and accessories, and refitted the convertible top frame with proper gaskets, etc, I can probably answer any questions any of you may have.
Carl at 928MS did the mechanical engine and brake upgrades for me but that part of the car was pretty stock prior to our changes.

the add adds WAY MORE information !!! SALVAGE TITLE which for "collector" cars is the kiss of death
right wrong or indifferent it cuts off 40-50 % of perceived value for the vast majority of people. It is bad enough for regular utilitarian drive them till they die cars where people find that not dealer is going to take one in trade and you end up selling on craigslist.... which is so common that most adds will say clean title as a feature if they can !! Also leads some to "wash titles" by fake out of state transfers.....
it is a pretty cheap different looking convert if you like a 1980 928 , and have little concern about any future value.
