I appreciate the aftermarket iterations for the baffle. An advanced solution is not in the cards for me right now.

I have an early 87 with the metal neck and a metal plate.
I traced the outline of the plate on the new thick gasket.

I then used several new blades to cut out the gasket to accommodate the baffle plate.

When I install, I will use ultra black to enhance the sealing surfaces. Not racing the car so I don't expect to have sustained high revs.

Good for now.
May upgrade at a later date.

Interesting.
What holds the inner portion of the original stock baffle in place with your approach?
Seem like that metal portion is just going to be easily dislodged.

There is an edge about 1/8 - 3/16 all the way around.

the metal plate is sandwiched between the neck and block.

Pretty sure the torqued sandwich and ultra black will lock everything in.

Given that the metal plate is thin and the stock gasket is thick, I thought that the baffle might come loose and end up crooked in there.
If you use enough silicone, that should hold it in place.
