For those of us new to the 87+ world....

What are the symptoms of these failing? Anything intermittent or do the fans just stop working?

Usually one or both fans stop running. Apply direct power to each fan to first confirm both fans work.

I just read through a few threads and some very informative posts from Alan about this unit. I always had rough idea what this thing did, but never really paid attention since I didn't have one. I never realized just how complex its functionality is.

I'm tempted to install a rebuilt unit preemptively, why wait for it to fail?

Each unit is tested on a 928 for a few days to ensure workability.

Thanks Mark

I know Mark sometimes has stuff available that has been tested on a 928 for decades...

Nice service Roger - these seem to have a service life of 15-20 years or so, but otherwise aren't really that unreliable - well worth rebuilding back to newish.

Always nice to see things like this.
When I'll need one, and it's just a question of time, I'll know where to go.

Thanks Roger!
