Default Sachs Shocks?

Recently I have noticed more Sachs shocks on the market
I am just curious if they are any good or not.

^^^^ What John said. Sometimes the colors are different but otherwise duplicate original fitment parts. They also made some of the non-Bilstein sport option dampers in certain years.

I just put a set of 'Sachs/Boge blacks' into Anderson's 91GT (it wasn't spec'd with sport shocks originally). Good enough for Mark A., good enough for us.

And at about $550 to $600 for a set of four great value for money.
Boge, Sachs all the same but now owned by ZF.

Truthfully I am half tempted to put a set on my GTS, the Bilsteins and Clubsports are too stiff for many of the concrete slab (ka-thump, ka-thump, ka-thump, ka-thump) freeways around here. Maybe I'm just gettin' old...

I have Bilsteins in the front and stock Boge in the back. (Rear Bilsteins were not available at the time.)
How would Sachs in the rear and Bilsteins in the front work?
I have had race cars with similar set ups and with great success.

Ask Rob about Koni's. He has a spare takeoff set in his collection, removed for the bone-jarring ride I suspect. Now, working back towards Boges. We put a set of Koni's and Eibach's on Jonathan's car and it was teeth-rattling for me. He was heading towards softer in just a couple months.

So much depends on tire choice, wheel sizes, spacers, etc.

I first put Eibach's on with new Boge non-sport shocks. I have PS-2's in stock 17" GTS sizes. Even after a few months for initial shock stiction to wear in, the ride was too jarring for me. I "settled" on rear CS springs with the Boge's, left the Eibachs in front. It's the best compromise I've tried so far. So to Vanster's question, I'd give the Boge's a try in the rear, especially considering the commuter duty your car is enjoying.

FWIW, the shocks I took out at about 90k were still like new as far as dampening. I replaced them because at that mileage they should be due on a PM schedule. They could easily have stayed on the car. But I had new shocks and springs in hand and the car was on the lift. The new springs were needed to combat the age-related droop that 928's suffer from, as I worked to keep the car high enough to make it in and out of my driveway without any steering contortions required. The factory springs were getting too short to adjust anymore.

Boge Turbo Gas changed names to Sachs Advantage I have been told. I have those same Sachs Super Touring shocks pictured above on my 928 and they perform very well.

I picked up a set for my 91 GTI as well!

I have Weltmeister springs in the front which are firm but not killer stiff. It's always the
rears that get you in your butt. Also I have 17" wheels. Mostly I am thinking of PM.
Dr Bob is correct about my commuting to and from LA. The current rears have about
122k on them.

I'm not old enough yet. Automatic GTS has new Boge/Sachs and stock springs, wheels and tire size setup and it's too soft for my liking. Needs Bilstein or Koni and Eibach even though local roads are terrible nowdays.

I replaced all four corner of my '80 shark with Sachs. I'm pleased.
