86.5 Intake / Engine Harness / Timing Belt

Somebody stop me!
I'm supposed to be putting parts on, not taking them off.
>>> This thread <<< has me paranoid. I can rotate this oil line joint. Does that mean the hose is bad? What about A/C, PS and transmission lines? Is it worth taking them all off for inspection?
How important is the alternator shroud gasket? Is it still available?

the pic of the timing belt tension.... thats way too tight.... mid window is calibrated to near 6, full window, probably 6.5 to 7. i would bring that tension down to mid window or 1/4 window position.

It's an S3 though...everything I've read says S3 tension should be middle to high in the Kempf tool window.

What is this alternator shroud gasket thing? By shroud, do you mean the plastic cover on the back where the cooling duct attaches? There's a gasket? Or am I way off base? My plastic cover thing is missing a screw, so it doesn't fit tightly. I need to remedy that, but just thinking I don't remember a gasket in there.

Denny, I was told by a hose rebuilder that those connections should not rotate. Mine did, and both of the oil lines leaked, but it seemed to me they seeped through the linings rather than at those fittings. 27 year old crap has to go...

Got Belted!
Wonder how many engine revolutions it would take to get all the labels back up top?
I know they need to be changed but they'll do for now. Any recommendations on what to use?
Is this normal?
Finally, timing belt is done. Hope I didn't screw anything up.
Intake is next.

Cam Covers are Next.
Been away for work. Time to get back to it.
Old and new. Some holes are countered and some aren’t so old are with and without O-ring. Do new conform to “become as the old" in either application?
What needs to be done in here before cam covers go on? I don’t want to scratch or mar the covers once they are permanently installed.

Cam Covers
I have read that some use sealant on all gasket surfaces and some use it in just corners. Any opinions?
Also, gasket groves of new cam covers are powder coated. Is powder coat in groves okay or should it be removed?
The nut "in the tube" was too tight to remove with pliers so I made a tool.
Thanks.

Something seems amiss.
Are these style seals usable on S3?
I'm afraid to tighten them. The rubber wants to squirt out as do the little washers.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
