Just as another point of reference....

Most of the impellers that I have seen come loose and fall off have not had any bearing migration in the actual water pump. The press fit between the shaft on the bearing cartridge and the impeller was simply inadequate.

In this scenario, the timing belt alignment or tension does not change even a tiny amount.

The first clue that there is something wrong is that the water temperature will go up...because the impeller is loose and not spinning as fast.

I've used rebuilds from some Jag specialist for years. Haven't replaced one in a while. Do have one due right now on an '86. Never had any problems doing a belt change. The only bad one, a leaker on the first 86 and I got a discount because I knew the belt and pump needed servicing.

Do to where the car is located 1000 miles from me and wanting to repair the block with Griggs kit myself they put it back together. So far no increase in idle tempature. So for now until the car is tuned it will stay with the new plastic impeller pump, it was in my inventory from Roger. I would assume that in traffic with the air on it might show its ugly head.

I think my last failure on the water pump was on a rebuilt one. the impeller just became loose on the shaft and didn't spin. intermittently. one of the few times I had to tow home from the track. bought the new one from laso, and its been on ever since. frustrating failure because sometimes it spun, and sometimes it didn't. the digging into the block failure is nasty, but scot had one of those and we just replaced it with the rebuilt ones Mark Anderson gets . its been fine ever since as well.

^^^ that's good to hear, I got one of Marks rebuilt pumps. Of course, mine is not a track car so it shouldn't receive too much abuse either.
