New Porsche Classic Radio/GPS

Basically, I really like the idea. And, in the video at 0:51 there is also a 928 dash to be seen. The installation manual even at least makes references to 928s but it looks not complete. Nonetheless, a few comments:
1.) At that price I expect seemless integration. The back of the unit has ISO connectors. Classic Porsche's will have DIN connectors. The kit should include adapters. Otherwise, stereo-install idiots will splice your wiring harness up... Grr...
2.) The fascia plate is simply too small to accomodate the word Porsche. Just leave it off. We all know we are in a Porsche. (Although I never say to people I have a Porsche, I always say 928 if a question comes...)
The big advantage of this is that the electronics are all in a replaceable unit that you swap out when whatever protocols/connectors are osbolete. I don't want to buy a new car with a big screen GPS, becuase sooner or later that screen will really be useless. This is the best option.

Regarding the mini dash pod you mentioned, I saw this on the "Official random 928 Picture Thread", page 5, post #63. Thought the mini pod and HUD were cool and admire the work effort, but just not for me.
Cheers,
Rich

That looks like anything BUT classic - and at that price many far better options including original.

^^^ Hater I just bought a US version a couple days ago from a German dealer. Surprisingly about $300 cheaper than they are in the states (and no VAT.) Still not cheap, but I got tired of screwing around with e-bay and last minute surges of $600+ for 25 year old CR-1s and no assurance the code worked. So for $300 more and a lot more capability, it didn't seem like a bad idea. imho. As for the maps and GPS, I'll have to wait 'til we get back to the great state of Texas.

The units from Continental posted in other threads look more in place for a 928 and a much better price:

I agree with Roger, does not fit into our cockpit design and many navigation apps for smartphones can do the same. If it's about looks and functionality, the Harman Kardon/Becker Traffic Pro is IMHO the best option.
It was and is readily available in Europe but was not sold often in the US. Disadvantage: navigation CD's have not been updated by the company for many years.

I just bought the Kienzle mcr 1016-bt. According to the reviews has very good audio quality. It had bluetooth (also streaming music), SD/USB, no CD so little depth. Also no navigation off course, but the position of the radio in the dash is not good for navigation. Audio is said to be excellent according to reviews. Still available through Amazon but new models appear more modern so not for me.
Only EUR 125.
