geometry problem
Thank God for Google Translate
Hello everyone,
I ask your help, I have a little geometry problem on my s4 928 1990 1985 was different rooms on the left side , lower arms , shocks cup ... from a poor repair.
I had a workshop manual cd but it no longer works.
I have a doubt on the bracket that attaches the shock absorber to the lower arm , they exist several models with different numbers but I am over the head , could someone help me?
Thank you in advance ...

Your red is on the rear lower arm mount fixing bolts, which seem to be standard bolts.
The lower shock absorber mount changed around 1983 - long to short bolts when the ball joint changed from alloy to steel. Apart from bolt length there is no functional difference.
jp 83 Euro S AT 56k.

renseignement outil arbre à cames 928 s4
Bonjour,
Amicalement
philippe

Phillipe,
There are two models of lower arm, one is for models up to 85 set up and the other is for the 86 and later model years.
The earlier model lower arm has a longer radius from the pivot point to the suspension unit clamp inner bolt hole [191mm] and it is distinguished by the fact that this arm has no embossed lettering on it.
The later model arm has a shorter dimension 179mm and is distinguished by the fact that is has raised embossed lettering "PORSCHE" on one side of the arm [stock S4].
Each of these arms has a dedicated clamp bracket and they are not vaguely interchangeable albeit they may mechanically fit in the bolt holes.
The earlier carrier has two versions because of changes made in model year 83
Early version of left hand clamp is part no. 928.341.091.03
The modified version part number is 928.341.091.05 and it is visibly distinguishable because it has two notches marked on the side.
Both of these fit to the earlier lower arm depending on which mounting is used [the earlier ones had a tendency to fail and the replacement changed the geometry of the various parts.
The later model left clamp is part number 928.341.091.06 and this fits to the later lower arm.
Fitting of the earlier arm design on your car is probably not an accident but an intentional manipulation to tune the steering geometry. if you can I suggest that you take a look at the lower arm in question, compare to what I have described and report back with it.
I suspect you may have the earlier lower arm with the revised clamp fitted.
There again it could be a complete **** up. If you have the earlier parts fitted you will find that the adjustable camber range has increased to something like 1 degree negative to 3 degrees negative on that side.
Trust the above a helpful and accurate description but do not blame me if inaccurate in any way.
When tuning my suspension I found that I could get minus 2 degrees of camber on the drivers side but only 1 degree on the passenger side so I fitted the earlier set up on the passenger side to get the two degrees I was looking for both sides.
Bon chance mon ami!
Fred
