Depends on the section-width of the -specific- tire in question.

My own max tire on the 11s, is a 285/35R18 IIRC, which is a section width of 10.2

Section width is NOT the tread width, but the widest width anywhere on the tire, and will change depending on wheel width (pull it in if narrower, etc) by small amounts.

The tires I use in your size, are 10.9" SW.

Click "specs", an example is here: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....Potenza+RE050A

I have 295/35 on 10" ET 58 and they rub on the inside. 11" ET 51 will need flared/rolled fenders with a 295 Or a GT or GTS.

Here are some pics of the 11"s with 295's. I traded my 11's for 10's and then the 295 fit, but rubs on the inside in hard corners.

You can see how far the 11" ET 51 sticks out on my S4.

Thanks for the advise ..... If I go down to a 285 , will that work with a 11" ET51 ?

I can tell you that the 11's would not work on my 87 with any rubber. They simply stuck out to far with factory S4 fenders. On your 84 you will have the same problem me thinks.

Right now I have the 295's on the 10" ET 58 and there's is very little clearance between the tire and fender. Maybe 4mm. Being that an ET 51 is 7mm father out and 1" wider they just don't fit without fender mods.

Hers is a pic showing

how close the 295/35's are to the fenders with the 10" et 58 wheel.

for the rears the tires move inward as they move upward. Ultimately what I did was cut the bottom rear shock mount from a bad shock and bolted it all up with spacers and the tires I thought I would be running. Then I articulated the suspension with a jack. That is the subjective testing. When testing you want to try to meet the real world scenarios as much as possible.... It worked in testing and real life....

Yes they do move up and in but, how exactly how did you make 11's and 295s fit with an ET 51 wheel? Are your fenders stock? What year? What wheel?

I believe the OP is in an 84.

mmm... This if from Wheel dynamics website for the 928....

Can use all of the narrow body wheels from 993-986-996-997 50mm -65mm et front and 48mm - 65mm et rear. 1981 to 1984 cars have 21mm spacers in the rear. These can be removed to fit some wide body wheels. (18x10 40mm 18x11 45mm) You may still need to do some fender mods depending on the tire size.
Most extreme fit 18x10 et65mm front and 18x11 et45mm-63mm. The 18x11 et63mm wheel fits nicely on the rear with a 285/30/18 tire. 19"s fit very nicely on the car

18x8et 50mm and 18x11et 45mm below

Do a search, lots of threads on this. 11" is not going to work without fender mods. Bigger is not always better in the rear. Yes it looks cool, but the handling will be much better if the front and rear tires sizes are closer.

If you have 11's already, just trade them for a pair of 10's.

I am running 18x10 ET65 with the stock 22mm rear spacer on my 84S. I had to pull the fenders out maybe a quarter inch to make 295/30ZR18 Pirelli P-Zero Corsas fit. It never rubs.

The 11" wide wheel is going to give you a lot of trouble. Mine is tight everywhere, but clears. I don't think there is another 1" to give back there.

I have the 11s on my 88. Same chassis as yours.

It's ALL in understanding how tires are sized 285..295..have nothing to do with the important measurement here.

Are your fenders stock or rolled?
When I had the 11's mounted they would not clear the fenders. My 10's ET 58 with 295/35 bairly fit. But just to be clear, my rubbing is due to the 26" overall diameter of the tire. If they were 25" they would not rub on the inside. Can you share any pics of your clearance?

Stock, with rolled up inner edges.

It is as tight as other photos you have seen here, but still, no 2 tires will have the same dimentions, and they must be studied to run 11s.

I run the C3 5 spoke common replacement wheel.

What brand of tire is that 295/35 you tried?
