But where do you get a headliner?

Great question.
This is something that needs to be vacuum formed by one of our People.
Regarding welding in the original panel;
If you look closely at the edges as i mention the panels have a slight radius to them that is not wanted when welded in place.
If you use the original sunroof panel it will require much more filler at the
seam area where the welding takes place. More filler = more unwanted weight and more sanding and more shrinkage Jerry.

Rob got the last factory non sunroof panel I think, but its the tip of the iceberg in the job, like a lot of 928 issues starting from a decent non sunroof early car body might end up the easiest route.
Regarding fitting with a helmet on, its nice if a track car looks pretty, but seriously, isn't it a low priority all things considered?

Yes when I bought mine there was 2 left, I recall the price being a little higher then but maybe my memory is failing me. I thought this might happen along with the foam insulator that is fitted to the manual torque tube at the gear stick location.

I learn lessons by doing. Doing right, doing wrong.
The windshield that I had just replaced did in fact get welding ***** in it. So that's something I won't forget.
The panel itself is not as heavy when you separate the two sheets. So that saved me the metal forming.
I did not weld all the way around.
I should try that after I get the sealant off that did not do well in the sun..

The proper way to weld in sheet metal panels is with a chill plate clamped to the two sections to be welded. This will minimize shrinkage, and transfer the heat from the weld to the chill plate. After you're done welding the proper way to match it all up and look OEM is to lead it in.
