For some unknown reason, the passenger side mirror (U.S. Driver side) wont select any positions, the other side works fine.
When you select the side not working you can hear a click in the up down, but no click in the side to side mode.
The joystick controller is less than a year old, I took out the rocker switch and cleaned the connections, but made no difference, don,t understand as it was working fine last time I remember .

OK, you should know this by now,
spray some deoxit into the direction switch first,
and then test, it may take a few cycles to restore connectivity
IF no joy then apply it to the up/down in/out switch ,
dont bother taking them apart.

Bought some good quality contact spray, sprayed both switches, and still the same as above. BTW Deoxit is over here when you can find it, if you want to spend US equivalant of $40 !!!

Further to this problem, after spraying contact cleaner on the toggle selector switch, the inoperative mirror started working, then a few days later it stopped, although when I tried it again it momentarily worked then quit.., the other mirror works perfect. When I switch to the inoperative mirror I can hear a click noise in the up / down movement..., I even bought a new toggle switch just to eliminate it, but just the same.
For the record both switches are new now, so were do I go chasing next ?

Check to see if the wires are plugged in right at the switch, yellow is power, green is right, and blue is left (viewing with the switched turned over).
Otherwise a wire could be disconnected inside of the door or you could have a damaged wiring harness or the plugs could be corroded inside of the mirrors.
There are a fair few things that could go wrong.

The mirror harness passes through the door hinge area. I had similar problems which proved to be an intermittent wire break inside that harness. I became convinced it was the door harness because I could get the mirror to move if I had the door open but not closed. Depending on what function is affected you can determine the wire color from the wiring diagrams and cut open the harness sheath to explore that possibility. I was lucky enough to find the break at a flex point by cutting into the wire insulation for one wire.

..., thank,s I,ll look into wiring on that side next, move the mirror head, close the doors etc, and see if it is an intermittent fault which it does seem to be, although at the moment it,s gone on a real long vacation !

Issue now fixed, and for anyone with similar issues, it turned out to be oxidation in the round multi-plug inside the mirror housing, quite typical of 928 connectors.., once I took it apart it was quite apparent, some cleaning of the prongs and some contact cleaner got it working again.
