Default $ value of my 87 ?

Hi,
Trying to get a close 2015 estimate for the value of my 87 S4.

Because I'm thinking about changing insurance companies for the 928 and getting an agreed value policy for a limited use / non commuter / pleasure use only / 2nd car.

Is a decent 87 S4, auto trans, with about 76,000 miles.

Mostly stock. Had some paint work on the front bumper. Lots of new OEM parts associated with that project. Some cosmetic items. Upgraded, fixed and replaced missing items. All of the critical maintenance is done.

Paid about 11.5 k for the car in 09 and have spent somewhere around 7+k over the last 6 years.... but it has been money well spent.

Tom

Looks very nice! But, some would say that Burgundy interior will drop the value about $5k.....NOT ME THOUGH!

I say $18 - $21K.

I put agreed value on my car at $25k ... because that was the rough threshold where I felt it would no longer make sense to try to repair the car after a serious collision.

Yes on the Flip Up Spoiler. Maybe because its an early 87 (build date of May 86)? My 88 had the fixed version.

No, unfortunately on the OEM belly pan.... but I purchased a new one from 928 Int & their hardware kit.

If your GTS has low mileage that might be low.

I have scars on my heart from a previous experience. A drunk a**w*d shop owner crashed my 88 S4 in 2006. The underwriter was American Modern Home & their collector car division rep ( a MG & Vett Club lady) totaled out the 928 and they paid me $ 23.5.

I kinda was thinking along the lines of 21k as Rick mentioned.

Since it's agreed value, you pay the premium you want to insure it for. Insurers will have caps at the upper end of course, but if you convince them that it's worth $30k, they'll sell you the policy and collect a premium premium for that value. If you convince them it's worth $10k, then you pay a much, much lesser premium. No sense in over-valuing on agreed value unless you like hi premiums.

I would say I could replace your car for $15 or so. Unless you have some obscure and highly sought after options like 5sp, sunroof delete, LSD, rear AC delete, paint to sample, root wood int, etc.

I agree you could replace it for 15000.00 BUT it would not have everything up to date as yours so i would go for the 21-23000.00 area so that you could have everything brought up to date. just my o/p

Fine with me. Your agreed value 23k premium <> a 15k premium.

Here's the bottom line. Between the buyer, and the insurer, the buyer never wins. Never, ever, ever. Otherwise there would be no such thing as insurance.

I give you -- Obamacare.
