I really like that car. I have a mint black interior ready for it. Alas, I can't bid on it.

My experience is black sells and well brown doesn't.

I'm painfully aware of that, and I'll forever be confused why people want an "expensive" car with a bland interior.
My fathers Black / Tan 355GTS would have been much easier to sell with an all black interior. Which is funny since the biggest compliment he received over and over is how nice the interior was compared to all the other 355's around.

I've always wondered if it's like a Catch-22.....everyone "knows" black sells better so that is what everyone gravitates for even if it's not what they absolutely want.
It's not uncommon for people to buy what they think the next guy will want versus what they really want.
I see this all the time with used cars. People neglect maintenance for years until they decide to sell it, then fix everything. Great...do all that work so the next person can enjoy it?

/no offense intended to any black interior fans......just something that's always confused me.

If anyone does fall upon this car and goes about ditching the interior.....please contact me.

I am mystified, too. I happen to love cashmere leather interiors, but I find myself in the minority at times. Go figure.

Swapping the interior on a low miles car is a surefire way to destroy its long term value. If/when 928 values rise, "all original" will sell much better.

Why would the mileage be listed as "exempt"..?

Can anyone tell what that piece is that's laying on the passenger floor?

Why is the "!" button green, and why does it have an "O" on it..?

So if the bidding hasn't started yet, I assume $6700 is the starting bid?

They provide a list of local professional inspectors. Wonder what they charge.

How come you are not able to bid on this one Kevin?

How often does it snow in Albuquerque..?

it is also marked on a phone call....meaning the owner can refuse the highest bid....

"Exempt" miles basically means that the car is old enough that mileage isn't required to be reported (10 years IIRC).

The piece on the floor looks like the plastic motor cover from under the front of the seat (covers the front of the seat drive motors).

That's not the CWL (! light). Not sure what it is.

Albequerque is up in the mountains, over 5000'. Snow isn't unusual.

Mark R. - I think you have to be licensed to bid.

Then it is not really an auction then. Between the cost of finding a broker and the seller's ability to refuse the highest bid I am likely out.

I spent a few minutes trying to figure out how a copart auction works. It is confusing. Then I looked up Copart. It really isn't set up for consumers. Based on the following, I don't think it is a place where I would bid as a consumer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copart

I bought my 928 back from copart after a dispute with the repair shop and my insurance company. It was in the UK so not sure it is the same. You'll need to send in id and pay an admin fee to become a member prior to bidding. The price at the moment looks like pre auction bids. Once the car goes on auction you make live bids. When the auction ends if you are the highest bidder but it doesn't make the reserve you can make an offer and the seller can counter offer. If no agreement is reached it will be back on auction the next week. I went through 5 auctions to get my car back. The final price was £1000 less than the first auction. Once you win you the buyer will pay the auction fees on top. Can't remember exactly but it was a percentage. I wasn't expecting that. You'll then need to pay to get the car transported.

If you are going to view the car then phone and find out exactly what you can and can't do. I knew the car so ddidn't need to view it but i remember reading that you can't attempt any repairs etc. So if the battery was flat i don't know if you could even start it. I doubt also that they would let you drive it. Check first.

Well it is a long story and the whole thing from sending it for repair to getting it back from auction was probably over three months but I ended up with a free s4.

Bought at £6500
insured for £12000 agreed value
bought back for £4500 plus fees

The dispute was that the bodyshop replaced my rear bumper with a GTS bumper without telling me. The weather strip was badly fitted and the PSD cover was missing. I've since learned to live with the GTS bumper

The insurer had a £9000 reserve set which is why it took so many auctions. I also got lucky and a fuse had blown for the dash and it was listed as unrecorded milage when it only had 74k miles
