Would love to see current pics and future intentions (re: sketches, etc) of where this project is heading. TIA T

It sounds like you don't really want a 928, but rather a 991.

Those are awesome cars; the first generation of 911 that I would consider giving my 91 928 for. But it would never occur to me to try and turn my 928 INTO a 991.

It would look fantastic!

But probably a headache getting there

It depends on how bad you want the results

Be sure to post pics and update the thread

Q: will those bezels fit and '84? I may order me up a set.

Hacker-whatever you name is what's with the "b--b" talk? Clean it up man.

Hilton,

Your post confirms what I said earlier- the photo of that mod aligns with the image of the deformed young lady posted by Mad Turk- OK if you like that sort of thing but somewhat ugly in my world- neither look right if you know what I mean.

Porche design is generally pretty cool and the 928 dash is up there with the best- just my opinion.

Default My take

I know most won't like this, but I wanted to slightly update the look of my 928's instruments, partly because I didn't like the black-on-black look, and partly because i couldn't read them at night, they were so dim. I've described the project in another thread, but basically I made EL gauge faces (Speedhut doesn't make the for an A/T 928) and turned some bezels to fit, also converted bulbs to LED's. Probably not as updated as the OP would like, but here they are, unlit and lit:

I would love a 991. Who wouldn't...
I don't think however I'm trying to turn the 928 into a 991. All I want to do is try to bring the 928 into the modern age without loosing its beauty.
When I bought the 996 steering wheel for it I didn't try to turn the 928 into a 996 either. Just fixed something that I didn't like. Same thing here. The instrument cluster looks bad, doll, and doesn't flow with the rest of the car. In my point of view the 928 was way ahead in design for its day, both exterior and interior. Except of course for the instrument cluster. I honestly would not spend the money on developing a 991 kit for the cluster because I don't need it that bad. But, it would be nice to be able do some thing.
Again, my opinion only but I think the 87 has nicer instruments than the 91. Simply because of round instruments. I wonder if that is an option??
Would it plug? I could easily find one from the earlier s4's.
I do like the bezels and the color faces. Maybe just the rpm in yellow if wouldn't look to far out of place.

I like it when not lit up, but not so much with the blue when lit.
