Default Fancy New Air Filter Box

Howdy Fellars!
Dinsdale Piranha here.
Just finished this fancy new air filter box for one of the V 12 cars and figured y'all would get a kick out of it.
Fits under the hood and uses a stock size 928 filter.
Here are a few pics for your viewing pleasure.

For many, the process is at least as interesting as the result. Can you share some of the techniques and materials you used? Just seeing the plug and then the finished product, one might be decieved into thinking that the CF just magically appeared in that perfect shape.

The process is called lost foam molding. This is my first try so I chose to use fiberglass, I would rather have a cheap failure than an expensive failure. The carbon fiber is a plastic wrap from 3M called Di-noc.
Here are a few more pics

You guys missed the key word: LOST in the LOST FOAM description.

Good News is that you could probably make a mold from the new part.

Here is another pic.
If enough people are interested we could make a mold and do a run of a few pieces.
Glad you all like it.

How did you cut and shape the foam? Hot wire cutter? Surform? Spiny Norman?

I have always found final shaping of this foam to be difficult.

I used my hands, fine tooth hacksaw blades, 80 grit sandpaper and Luksusowa Vodka.

I'd be in for one. Although I would have to insist that you drink Don Julio 1942 while crafting it.

I'm confused about everyone wanting one...isn't that custom-designed for the V12 setup? Are all you guys planning on rerouting your intake plumbing or are you thinking just have the cover up-front, for some underhood bling? Because it does look damn nice...
