I don't think enough people appreciate what a well thought out design the stock system is. Having such a large filter over the MAF with the shape of the lower filter box does an excellent job of smoothing out the flow of air into the MAF, which is very important.

It's a beautiful piece that will really compliment the V12 install, but I fail to see any reason to adopt such a setup on a non-boosted 928 engine running the stock intake. I could see this as an excellent option for the twin screw installs.

You can get MAF inserts that straighten out airflow, did that on the my S/C kit, and it was perfect.

I like the idea of gathering cool air from in front of the radiator more directly, and well, cleaning up the look of the space up there too.

I would additionally appreciate additional work to entirely close up that area, to really clean up that space.

And..as a final note to cover aesthetics and your original point...Disdale, how about the idea of just a plate up front to clean up the area and directly feed the OEM air intake as-is?

Fully aware, Murf928 has been using them for many years.

MAF straighteners are also installed in many OEM applications like the XK8's, Saab 9-5 and my Denali.

More proof of how well the stock 928 system is designed, not needing one. Changing a stock setup to one that might need the assistance of such a device is beyond ridiculous to me.

Sorry, just sounds like changing something just for the sake of changing something. Which is fine, but call it what it is.

The stock setup looks nice, clean and simple as is and it works.

Aftermarket setups (V12, supercharger, ITB etc...) all bets are off and you have to make work what you can to be functional.

This would be a good upgrade especially if it uses the stock air filter and can be used on our V8s rather than just the V12.
