He's referring to the tag "Cracklin' Rosie" which is listed under my screen name. It's an inside joke about Neil Diamond between me and another moderator.

I really just want to learn about the car! That's a cool looking 928!

What engine size? 2V or 4V? Last time it raced? How did it do?

Seems to me that that's the car you should be taking on the road to these events.

I like custom cars as much as anyone, but that car just looks rad.

My .02. You can go back to flaming now.

The alleged DMV process that you speak of has been STOPPED!
A "Courtesy Stop Request" was entered with the Director of the DMV on Friday 12-5-14 at 4:30 PM
THIS ACTION CAN NOT BE CHALLENGED UNDER CALIFORNIA LAW!
As such the STOP is in FULL EFFECT Under several California Vehicle Codes of Law.

A Complaint and petition was also filed on Friday with the Superior Court of Los Angeles County in The Malibu Courthouse requesting a preliminary injunction with a restraining order on the Fraudulent UNLICENSED Nigerian Automotive Shop that is trying to do an illegal title transfer and fraudulent lien sale under the premise of being "owed" an alleged $24,000.00 in storage fees.
When California Law Is VERY Clear on the MAX that it's Consumers can be charged http://repobiz.com/law_complete_repa...vc_10652.5.pdf for automotive storage.

My Ex Parte Hearing is coming up this week and as you can imagine given the magnitude of the Courts Ruling on the matter that I will fill you in on those details once I have them about my Devore 928 Racer. http://thereisnosubtitute.tumblr.com...ary-bob-devore

Thank You!
I have been very slowly restoring The Devore 928 when this "bump" in the road hit me.
I'm delighted that you like the "cool looks" of it.
I can't take much credit for the looks as Bob Devore was the one that went with such a radical WIDE BODY design. (out of carbon Kevlar no less!)
I have updated the livery with my design touches and I have a (bad) reputation (in general) for "Pimping My Rides" (so to speak) so I've toned it down a bit for Bob's car while trying to make it uniquely mine under my Stewardship of care.

As for the engine?
It was slated to have a radical twin turbo designed engine but need I say those plans are indefinitely scuttled having learned from the BAR
(Bureau of Automotive Repair) That The Nigerian shop in question is UNLICENSED by BAR to do work in California.
In it's heyday it ran a 2V engine that developed HUGE HP from the normally aspirated block.
Nevertheless, New plans call for an updated 4.7 Liter Twin Turbo out of a late model Panemera to be the slated power plant for the project once we get it back in our hands.

Just source the name: BOB DEVORE to learn more about the legendary 928 Guru as this Porsche was his rolling "test bed" for many of his innovative ideas on the subject of Porsche 928.

No. No Tino.
I meant no disrespect to the Moderator at all.
I thought their name was "Rosie" as I was only trying to respond back and didn't really know how to do so in "quotes" and such.

But it is very telling where your "dirty mind" is at Tino! LOL
I hope you know that I would never demean anyone calling them out of their name sir.
I just saw "Cracklin' Rosie" and thought...
Rosie.

It's always nice and good to hear that the accusations directed at someone are either unfair, or unfounded. In this day and age with all of the Dindu Nuffins it's a breath of fresh air to see that maybe one might actually be true.

So if things are not what they seem, please fill us in on how they are incorrect, improper, unfounded and then things can go forward.

Yes Mav, we've never met, and if we were to do so, I'd hope that they would be very cordial. I'd like to shake the hand of the man who is quite the legend in the 928 community, so if you are ever in Texas feel free to stop in.

Having said that, the concept of the Devore car was not just Bobs creation, Eckman had a bit to do with it but the actual engine build was done by Bud Hart and I've had the pleasure of shaking his hand. I just wish I could pick his brain for a few years. As Bud is getting up in his years, his son has sort of taken over a bit of his fathers legacy and is doing the fast car thing and I'm sure he'd like to see what has become of his fathers creation. He's local here so this could be an interesting as his 928 is going to be rather wicked when it gets done.

Yes SeanR; I'd like that and thanks for the Olive Branch offering.
I'm a born and raised Texan and so I come home to the Lone Star state a few times a year so don't be surprised if I come looking for you to shake hands and grab a cold one
You're right about Eckman as I have 3 boxes of Bob's notes and dyno sheets and racing records and compelling 928 Files (as he called them), receipts and such that was given to me when I bought the car in question in pieces and in boxes from Red McClintok.
The person that started this thread asking about the cars "history"
(who I strongly suspect as the actual FRAUDULENT NIGERIAN AUTOMOTIVE TUNING shop) trying to UNLAWFULLY lien my car is the one behind this thread about the 928's history". (but I can't be for sure)
But everything from Bob's paperwork with Bank of America who financed the car for him in 1978; to notes and letters between Bob and Eckman and the early formation of DEVEK.
VERY COOL STUFF for 928 nuts!

As for what is true and factual about me goes?
After almost 10 years of Internet lore and legend being spread UNCHECKED about me much of it is cemented in the hearts and minds of our fellow 928'ers and can't be reversed at this point I'm affraid SeanR.
However, being the resident "928 Outlaw" in the community may not be a bad thing at this point in the game.
Considering my body of work and how the "OUTLAW" cult is spreading fast in Porsche circles with guys like Mangus Walker and others who are doing "their own thing" and making the word "OUTLAW" in vogue in the Porsche social network.
I guess I have "some kind" of legendary controversial status in the mix!
As I'm sure you can imagine SeanR; my "Bad Reputation" precedes me!
SO IN ACTUALITY IT'S NO QUESTION I'M THE BIGGEST "OUTLAW" IN (or out of) THE 928 CLICK THAT IT HAS EVER SEEN! LOL

But in it's retrospect SeanR it's ALL OLD NEWS and hype mixed in with lies and truths are a powerful combination indeed.
Abet, no one likes a thief and a low life among them in a social circle who is a threat to them in any way.
I have to take full responsibility for my falling out with Marcus H. over (the purchase or alleged theft of) his slant nose 928.
It was a remarkable car and Marcus had done a wonderful job customizing it and I wanted to buy it.
We had a deal and I had given him $5,000 in payment for the Porsche and he let me take it to inspect it...
but when I did I discovered the car had several issues that maybe Marcus didn't know about.
When I brought it to his attention he said I must have damaged it.
That's when things began to spiral out of control 10 years ago.
He began to paint me as a car thief...
crafting this BRILLIANT "Wanted Poster to spread his side of the story...

and really trumping me for the fallout that we had.
In my defense...
I had told a few "white lies" to smear him as he was doing the same to me...
and it just became a MESS of a situation.

Honestly, I was WRONG.
I felt Marcus was doing me WRONG.
I didn't treat Marcus H. right and he didn't take it laying down.
I didn't hold up my end of the deal and Marcus H. being the CRAZY Pure A$$ Hole Aussie that he was (and still is I'm sure) did his thing on me.
That man spread me out all over the Internet every which way you can! LOL!
Hell, I think it wrote the thesis on the: "The Book of Maverick"
Frankly, I didn't even know anything about the Internet in 2005 until Marcus H. "introduced" me to it with a vengeance! LOL
That man drubbed on me and gave the the "internet smack down" of the 21st Century!
I learned a LOT from him (as well as myself in the cathartic process) and that's the TRUTH.
Simply, (as complex as the issues are) I was WRONG and...
I just feel at this point I have to live with it.
Mind you, I DO NOT condone all of the underhanded dirty devious tricks and lies and propaganda Marcus H. employed to make his point!
By now you've seen some of the crap that's out there about me SeanR and 99% of it is NOT flattering or TRUE.
But it's that 1% that makes the 99 have its power, value and gravity of preconceived scope of validity.
Now I won't go on and on here SeanR making my side of the saga known but I did want to thank you for giving me the chance to address it here and for you having somewhat of an open mind in allowing me to do so.

I truly hope that adds some clarity for you and others on how I came to have such an "Billy Bad A$$ Car Thief / Con Man Reputation"!
As One of my Heroes The Great Mohammed Ail once said: " I'm A Bad Man! I Shook Up The World!"
I guess in some sort of crazy bizarre way with my controversial Internet persona and my many wild custom 928's from my collection and so many stories and lore and legends about me allegedly ripping people off and going to car shows and winning with these 928's over and over that I shook up the crazy mixed up Porsche 928 world too! LOL!

Thanks Maverick, that clears up my confusion. I came onto this board only a few years ago so I don't know all the little nuances. I saw your 928 at Werks reunion and it was a sight to behold!

Hey guys reading all the stuff on the Internet, wanted to kind a get my story out there since on the one who started all this crap storm certainly didn't mean to. I was in a shop with a friend of mine who is having his car tuned, by the so-called Nigerian shop which in realityseems to be on the outside a very reputable and nice shop and owner. Have a lot of guys use him for tuning in the area that was the very first time I've ever walked into the shop, just went there with a friend to watch his car being dynode spotted the car may be in a racer and wanted to find out about it.didn't know any stories or who the people were like I said I certainly didn't mean to cause this big storm just was trying to find out about a car that I saw that was all dusty. So not the shop owner starting any of this this was all me just being a car guy seen a car don't know what will ever happen not really that worried about it hope it all works out for everybody in the end.

From my perspective I think the two most historically significant 928's to the Rennlist community would be Kiborts old Holberts car and your Devore racer. In the near future you could probably ad Mark A's old race car to that list. In my own selfish way I would love to see the Devore racer return with a monster 2 valve engine under the hood with todays electronics. Get Greg Brown or Todd to build the engine using todays technology.

No.
Thank you Chalkboss.
I should have done this a long time ago but I'm glad to now add some clarity to the quagmire of nuances of confusion about the "Maverick Legend".

The 1st Annual Werks Reunion event was insane for the Gulf Blue 928 and myself!
A bit of a coming out party (so to speak) as I met SO many nice people and Porsche nuts from all across the country that knew of me and some of my 928's.
We got on the lawn late but it ended up being a grand entrance for the wild over the top Wide Body Cabriolet 928 trimmed out in Neo Gulf Blue Livery!
Michelin Tires featured the car and interviewed me for their Corporate Press Junket https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-oR...ature=youtu.be
and even the Porsche Club of America featured the Gulf Blue 928 on it's National web site...
https://www.pca.org/news/2014-08-19/...unding-success
Chalkboss I had no idea the 928 was going to be received as it was at such a huge national collection of automotive events.
You saying it was a "sight to behold" just makes it that much cooler for me! Thank you for the kind words.
Next time you see me at a PCA gathering Chalkboss let me know know and lets' shake hands and get a cold one as I'd be delighted to meet a fellow 928 Nut!

Oh.
Okay.
That makes perfect sense (sic) that you would as you say:
"just spotted the car may be a racer and wanted to find out about it"
You've joined up BRAND NEW here just like me and you took the steps to join up on to the RENNLIST as specialized a forum as it is (which anyone is free to do I suppose) but you're not a 928 owner (are you?) and you came here of all the places to "find out about the car"?
Okay.
Well now you know.

This 928 you "spotted" is a pretty special 928 indeed and there is controversy around it and the "guy" you couch as a: so-called Nigerian shop which in reality seems to be on the outside a very reputable and nice shop and owner. Who is "going through the DMV process" as you stated in one of your threads is in reality a UNLICENSED Automotive shop (per the Bureau of Automotive Repair's Investigation) trying to UNLAWFULLY acquire the car over an erroneous and bogus $24,000 Invoice for "storage fees" which California Law does NOT ALLOW these kind of charges to be accrued on Automotive Real Property for obvious reasons.

I know, I know, you're just a car guy like all of us here and I don't want to "not play nice" with you Jasperrandy; but I'm sure you can understand my skepticism given the subject matter that YOU introduced into the mix.
