Default kickdown not working

On my 928 S4 I put the ignition in the on position and opened the passengers door (even tried with driver's door), I pressed the gas pedal all the way down and heard nothing. I also press the switch down all the way with my finger and heard nothing. I don't see in the Porsche Repair Manual how to trouble shoot it. Any ideas on how to fix it?

check the CE panel for the kickdown relay, test it.
check the spare tire well for disconnected wires in the front portion of the tire well ,
and at the transmission, clean the ground points in the spare tire well

not to hijack the OP, just to comment I have done the same test as the OP states and heard nothing, but I know mine works, 'cause I learned you dont go WOT on wet roads at any speed, (= slideways)
ps, I added a special enhancement to the end of the rod that touches the kickdown switch so that I dont need full throttle to make it click. I added a small shouldered rubber grommet to the end. It will activate the switch just before WOT, but has enough cushion as not to break anything but traction.

I bought 3 spray cans at Radio Shack. They don't sell it here in Canada unfortunately. I did order directly from the CAIG website internet and got the technician's survival kit. (http://store.caig.com/)

All thebest,

Joe

Alright I have the relay off, it looks different then the you tube video. I have a multi meter and can get a car battery in a few minutes.

You cannot test this relay without specialist gear - give up on that.

XV is kickdown - should be a 928.618.108.00 or 928.618.108.01 if you really had a 928.618.225.01 there - no wonder it doesn't work

You can test that the switch works by connecting at the relay socket - multimeter between kickdown relay socket terminal 30 and the bottom of fuse #10 in continuity mode (you can probe with the fuse in - see the open dimple) NB with ignition switch off.

When WOT you should have a connection.

I will add this caveat, it is wise to examine your CE panel in your new car as its quite possible that the PO or you the NO could have swapped relays into the wrong positions,
or any other number common mistakes.

Same can be said for the fuses in most years not every slot should have a fuse.

NOTE get a relay fuse chart and verify you have the correct parts in the correct places
