Default Battery charger / maintainer

I did a search, but nothing substantial came up.
So what is the latest consensus on the best battery charger maintainer tender for the 928's winter slumber?
Thanks

If you are truly putting the car away for the Winter with no plans to drive it, then I would say take the battery out, make sure it is fully charged and put it away in a dry location. I like to cover the terminals too and in some cases I have the original protective box the battery came in.

If the battery is not charging it's discharging, so even out of the car I would and do use a charger.
I really like my new Optima charger, it does it all, about 200 bucks.

Or at least put your battery on a battery tender, also a great unit, but they don't do desulfinate or charge a weak battery's just keep charged battery's up.

Bought a CTEK after considering the Bosch that Rob & Greg recommended. The Bosch requires a manual step to restart it if primary power has any glitches. CTEK is fine so far, but the car's only been in partial nappy time for a couple months. Lots of cable and termination options, with state-of-charge indicator lights.

I also have a couple different Schumacher maintainers that have delivered mostly good results over the years. I'm also hoping that all the refurb on cables and ground strap will solve some battery life issues that have come up in the last few years.

It also helps a lot when I can drive it more.

+1 on CTEK, I've got a couple that have been in use for years.

What are the advantages/disadvantages between the CTEK 3300 and this one

Any real advantage for spending the extra money?

Bigger, fancier, faster, and twice the price. For simply maintaining a battery I don't think there is any advantage.
But the 7002 is more versatile and would be the better choice to recharge a dead battery, recondition/equalize a tired/abused battery, etc.

Cheers, Jim

I agree 928 %. How many times have you found corrosion in unused devices with the batteries left in them.

CTEK is great, I have the pigtail mounted on the front jump post and ground point below it.

CTEK is what I use on both my 928 and wife's MB SL500 for the winters. I have them tied into the battery with the pigtails and just plug in and leave along for the winter.

I've used CTEK for years during very long storage periods with no problems.
