I thought about adding something similar, but instead made a lighter socket with a pigtail that fits the Molex connectors I use for power/charging. As interesting and universal as cigarette lighter plugs and sockets might seem to be, they are not my first choice when I need a reliable connection.
This marine style is actually a locking socket (push the plug in then twist to lock) - these make a much more reliable connection and are good for medium current use (say for a 6 amp charger). This is on a 10A fuse and I would not use it for much higher than 6A use anyway - the connections do indeed still have their limitations - but at least this one doesn't rely only on friction to stay connected.
The locking plugs are of course special designs so you have to buy these as well and install on intended equipment - although most standard plugs can also be used without locking features.
I rarely use it because I have a built-in Schumacher for maintenance with a plug in 110V connection at the front that is much more convenient for me - though I rarely even use that - driving it most days is the best way to stay charged...
