I bet he bought it for a song and is just flipping it. He probably is already hitting a grand slam if someone offered him 40k for it. Lately, it seems like a lot of people are in the business of flipping cars. I'm having a heck of a time finding a seller who has owned a Cayenne Turbo for more than a year.
Not to be too judgmental b/c I've used CL, but trying to sell something in a thin market that has limited appeal and pricey on CL is just dumb. CL reeks of no margin items, and sellers whose product does not warrant spending anything on an ad; doesn't really work here. Got to be a scam. It would be interesting if there were a local prosecutor who had an interest in cars or at least fraud that took an interest in this. I suppose someone has to come to him with a complaint, otherwise, it is entrapment.
I'm not a lawyer, someone correct me, but no pic, no way to document anything. CL also implies no shipping, that could end up as interstate commerce, becomes federal esp. at these prices??
Or he's just a case.

I'm in the market for a used Cayenne Turbo and it seems every car I have inquired about the seller has owned it for less than a year. Some of them the owner has only had it a few months. Seems odd to me! Either way this doesn't exactly inspire confidence that A. I'm buying a good car or B. The seller is trying to flip it regardless of the problems it has.

Thanks Cobalt that is good to hear! I'm not looking for a new one. I'm looking for a 04-06 with under 60k miles. The good news is some of these sellers are quite entertaining to talk to.

I once upon a time went to go see a 87' 928 that sounded very similar, and we played some odd game to see the car and then when I got there I almost got my car shut behind a gate and mugged by 4 people looking for the cash I brought for the car, and the car was a total POS, nothing like the person described. What saved me was how quickly I assessed the situation, and I did bring a K9 Shepherd Dog in the car along with a firearm. Scared the crap out of me to think what might have happened.

Well close to 2 days since I contacted the seller on CL and as Phil Collins sang back in 1981 "....there's no reply at all........"

I bought my GTS off of eBay.
The ad did include 40 photos and 6 page description. I bought it "subject to rejection after inspection" and paid only a reasonable down payment. Those dollars for law school were worth it.

But I want to add: My point about CL is that it warrants more caution. There are fine people on CL and there are frauds on Ebay. A generalization: CL attracts bottom feeders and sellers who for whatever reason think their car isn't worth money for advertising. Fine. If I was selling an item worth $50K, I would pony up some ad money to get exposure. If somebody isn't willing to do that, it might be a red flag.
I bought my GTS "around" ebay, it didn't reach its reserve at auction and Dr. Bob was kind enough to do a PPI. It was as advertised and the seller and I reached a price.

I bought my Shark off CL. Of course, it was a $4k car, not a $40k car...
