Default 928 S4 Hall Sensor

Had my car checked with the Hammer and got a hall sensor error. Right enough the hall sensor plug is broken. Haven't looked into it much but it looks like it is difficult to replace so it may get deferred for a while. I understand that the timing gets retarded. Anyone know what sort of HP loss we are talking about here?

Cheers
Mike

I believe it can retard timing 9 degrees. thats hp loss you can feel. I think roger sells repair kits for this and you dont have to replace the whole sensor , just replace the plug

Get both plug ends and replace. They crack over time like the CPS plug ends.

Ok thanks guys. I didn't know about the repair kit, I'll need to check it out.

Cheers,
Mike

For my S4 I am looking into this as well What I have read and observed is that the three pins are labeled on the hall sensor (cam sensor) side 1 2 and 3 but unlabeled on the harness side.
Unverified, via RL search, the wiring is as follows:
Connector pin - EZK connector pin - ECU pin - Wire Color
1 - 5 - 12 - Red
2 - 22 - 8 - Green
3 - 4 - 3 - Black

I did the plug replacement for a customer and the results were good. I still prefer to replace the entire sensor and not have to worry about it for 15 years.

The safest way to work out the harness wires is to ohm them back to the EZK 35way connector.
