Default Where's the jack?

The manual says it should be in the spare, but the air pump fills that space. I don't see where else it might go, so I'm stumped. PO doesn't remember ever seeing it. Is there a secret compartment?

I know - the best jack is a cell phone, but I'm often out of range.

Perhaps behind the tool panel on passenger side - that is where mine lives.

It should be in a felt bag.

Not sure but if I remember well mine is behind the tool tray.
Would need to take a look to be sure.

...Never used it.

Bingo! There it was, looking like it had never been out of the bag in 27 years. I'd looked right at it, even felt the area. The bag is made of the same material as some of the covering in the wheel well area. That's my excuse, anyway.

Thanks, all you quietly assured Porsche pragmatists.

It has a special spot? Mine has been sitting in my spare tyre for 11 years!

I was going to use the old "There must be a secret warehouse, where they keep all the jacks, compressors, gloves, tool kits & owner's manuals, because none of the cars have them."

But you already found it.
Does it have any of the tools in the tool tray?

My tool tray is complete, I think. It's so reassuring to know I always have on board the tools I'd need to fix ... what?

I bet some of the inventors on this forum could devise a better tool kit. Something that would hold a can of Deoxit, some relays, jumpers, an iPad with service manual PDFs, every possible type of 13mm and 17mm wrenches, what else?

My tool kit is complete, too, but I'll be darned if I can figure out how to get it to fit back in its place again. Fortunately, the car goes to Sean Monday and I suspect he knows how to do this.

As for the utility of the tool kit, despite being an inept mechanic, when I looked at it after reading of the common 928 mechanical issues here I wondered about its utility. I never would have made it through Engineering school, but I understand Porsche's superb engineers were seeking a 50/50 weight distribution so I started wondering if this was a way to add a couple of pounds to the extreme rear of the car. Then, being a career marketing guy, the answer struck me. Way better from a marketing standpoint to stick two ponds of useless tools back there than a bag of sand. Eureka!

I have the jack, but no spare. I will see if I can fit the jack in with the tool tray. I have hard plastic case with foam inlay full of 'need to have tools for most occassions' that fits perfect in the spare tire well.
