Cool '84 928s Injectors/Fuel lines replacement

so i took out my injectors out so i can clean them and test them. my spray pattern on all are great! but i did manage to break 2 injectors, by break i mean only the plastic tip on them. i also broke 1 of the rings that holds the bigger seal.

my question would be, are those replaceable or do i have to buy new or used injectors?

the clip that holds the bigger seal, is that sold separately?

i will also be uploading a tutorial on how to remove the injectors with pictures and video.

this pic shows the clip that i broke and now need, do i need it?

this shows where the plastic part broke.

Plenty of seal holders so I can find you a used one no problem.
I stock the small and large seals at $1 each.

I also stock the special extra long pintle caps. Hard to find.

Look at my post on Roger's thread about his 1986 S2 being hydrolocked.

I've got a brand new solution to the "old" injector problem in cars with this style injector.

I'll do a product introduction thread on Monday...so that the idiots that rip on everything I make can get a chance to figure out something bad to say about it....

I was able to buy some of the large clips you mention. I am sure Roger can obtain them for you.

Those are not actually "crimps", but a "hat" that forces the top of the rubber fuel hose into the inside of it....and protects the end from deterioration. They are tough to remove without damaging them....you have to cut the fuel line away, surgically, from the inside.

With them and the proper fuel hose, you do not need clamps. Without them...I use clamps.

Yea, I used a dremel to cur them out and I'm using rogers kit and it comes with clamps:-D

I understand.

Technically, your are never supposed to use a clamp on rubber hose that goes over barbs....like on the fuel rail. The problem with a clamp is that it forces the inner liner of the hose too tight onto the sharp barbs and you take a chance of cutting the hose...causing a fuel leak.....which you are trying to prevent.

That being said, when the "hats" are missing, I use a clamp, but I'm very careful to not tighten them very tight over the barbed fuel rail stubs!

The injector end is not barbed...it has a bulge to prevent the hose from coming off...so it works great with a clamp.

This entire hat/clamp/no clamp thing is somewhat of a moot point. While I don't know what hose Roger supplies with his kit, I suspect it is the original N 020 281 1 German fuel injection hose. If you use this hose, a hat or a clamp is just there to make you feel better. The only way you can get that hose back off of the fuel rail is by cutting it.

On a original hose replacement kit from Porsche I have, in the directions it says to use a soldering iron to melt the hose and allow you to remove it.

I didn't do that as the hoses on mine were so old I could just pull the injectors off with very little force. I suspect many others to be like this too.

But with the correct hose, as stated by Greg above, you do not need clamps and the ferules provide enough protection for the hose ends.

I haven't had a single drop leaked, just be sure each hose is the same length. If they are not, you will have a leak and replacing all of the hoses again is not fun.

Not sure about what hoses Roger gave me but assuming I don't have the ones you are talking about Greg:-P but I'd still be safe with a clamp on just for a price of mind:-D

That's for the info as I didn't know none of this:-) maybe my video is not too helpful:-(..hehehe
