yeah, brings to mind the folks eager to do hybrids years ago- EUro top end with the 5.0 block. Sure if you're into a rebuild or amping up a dedicated track car maybe, but for street driving the cost/benefit and PITA only makes sense with a large vanity correction factor. IMO. YMMV.
Better breathing for the 5.0? Check. More displacement under the RoW intake..check. Total Tq/HP..not nothing, but...

I'd guarantee that my recently developed complete headers system with exhaust and tuning would yield more power than his 5.4 liter stoker did.....and be a whole bunch cheaper.

However, that is today, not what was happening 6+ years ago.

There's no doubt, given today's technology, whoever buys that vehicle has a huge opportunity to significantly improve what is there.

I emailed with the owner and spoke to the PO. It's most likely a hybrid with a 5.0 block and 79 heads and intake. The PO bought it from a lot and it was said to be a stroker but there was never documentation for it. He said it ran stronger than any other 85 he'd been in. He also said it was converted to a single disk clutch and with lsd diff from a 79. He said it was one of his favorite cars and never stranded him. The current owner has a ton of documents and it's well taken care of. Unique and cool car, just not for me. Here a picture of the motor.

A long screwdriver down the sparkplug hole and a ruler while rotating the motor ought to give a pretty good sense of the actual stroke, no? (Can you get a straight shot at the piston thru the plug hole on a 2V head?)

Seems weird, a Euro CIS top end on a US maybe bored block. Maybe a reasonable option if you have an 85 timing belt fail motor, but hard to imagine much bottom line gain vs 32v motor and FI.

For the headers/exhaust, or for the car?
