1978 928 #19

I think you will put 5-10k into that car because the re-spray is unraveling on it and the service needs to be brought up to date. I'm in the market for one and really really want to like this car but at 18k with no service records and I bet another full re-spray needed I don't think it is underpriced. But the market will speak and when it does sell I hope we find out for how much.

I sent the pictures that I have that detail the spider webbing to the place that did my Boxer. Since the car has already been re-painted his suggestion was to do the entire car over again to bring it back to new condition. Estimate based on what he could see was 6.5k. I think this 928 is worth investing in for the right jump in cost.

Mileage is around 62k. the car is never out of the shop, so old or new pictures all look the same…lol. The last time I showed the car was 2006 I think. I roll it around in the shop when I need to move stuff or sweep.
Let me see if I can recall the minutia.
The radio is like 1983 928, not the orig. it could use new retractors on the seatbelts there is a super small crack like 1/8 of an inch near one of the defrost outlets. I may have a piece of electrical tape on dash in front of idiot light, as I hated when that thing would come on for no reason. Oil dipstick tube was a little loose, alt belt was also loose. It has h1 headlamps and the flutes are out of the fog lamps. It does not have p7’s as tires, they are Michelin x’s I think. The particle board spare cover has a corner chewed out of it. there is a very small scratch near drivers rear wheel arch in front of the exhaust. Original paint except for a front fender. I did not do any paint on it but I remember stan telling me this when I bought the car. this is the second gas tank as number one delamed. Black interior with mod checks no sunroof. 5 speed. Shiny runner tubes. Adjustable front headlight leveler. Has the spare. Has the owners manual. There are some paint spec out of side view mirrors.
I bought the car in 88 I think. Stand was orig owner, he bought it from vwoa as a dealer demo. He retitled it a few times during the realestate busts and booms, but it was always his. He had the orig 928 texas plate. It was the southwest mechanic trainer car for Porsche, and the original mechanic while stan owned it was a guy named dusty Rhodes (really) the only thing I ever changed from the way I bought it was the tires and tom did the gas tank. I sold the car to tom schwenk and then bought it back a year later. August 77 build I think, 00029. I have not started it in two years.

By then there were already a whole lot (hundreds?) of Euro's produced. You can see from the vents that this is not a early production car.

^^^ that's right Hilton.
Approx. 300 Euro/RoW were produced before the first US 928.
The vents may have been replaced. Seen many with later vins have the early-style vents.
