Default Adding license plate holder in front tow?

I bought a US Millworks license plate holder that installs in the front eye bolt receiver for my 1981 928. Researching here, I see references to this being a difficult process, both for removing the cap and for removing a metal plug from the threaded receiver for the tow eyelet.

Any tips before I attempt this? (One possible tip is, "Just let Sean do it when he does the rest of the work.")

Many thanks in advance.

Why not just order a license plate bracket from one of our Vendors and install in the standard fashion - has a much more 'balanced' look.

(1) I already own it.

(2) It is the one Roger previously selected for a group buy.

Thanks!

And drill holes into the bumper?

Fail.

I despise holes being drilled in the front bumpers of nice cars for license plate brackets. I'm lucky and live in SC where there isn't a front plate regulation. If I lived in a state that required a front plate, I'd rather run the risk of a no front plate ticket before I'd drill holes in the bumper, but would likely succomb to common sense and use one of the tow hole plate mounts.

It was a while ago and now over. Here's the link to the product.

If anyone has installed one and has tips to share, I'd appreciate it. Getting the tow receiver cap off without damaging things worries me the most. Mr. Badwrench here.

Is the cap fused into your tow eye?

If so, there is a tool out there on loan for fixing that:
